anyone had bypass with bmi under 45

Hi Tanisha.... I had a mini gastric bypass coming up for 6 months ago at the end of March privately in Belgium... My starting BMI was 39... 18.7 stone.... Today I was 13.1 so I've lost coming up to 5.1/2 stone. :) I've not really had an problems!.... You can compere mini gastric bypass and RNY bypass online if you are not sure of the difference..... Can you go NHS or will you have to self fund?

hi i have my nhs funding in place and am on a waiting list, its taken 4 years but ive finally got it! ive not met anyone with a similar BMI , would be lovely to share experiences. what was the loose skin like with having less to lose

Hi, it's brilliant you got the funding even though it's been a long time!..... My local authority won't consider you under 50 BMI so I new I had no chance..... To be honest my loose skin is a nightmare but others with more weight to loose are better..... It's hard to compare!... My age, ( 53) and years of yo yo dieting and the fact I'm very fair skinned I think have a lot to do with it.... I have very paper thin skin with zero elasticity! :( ..... But still I would far rather be slimmer. I certainly look better in clothes! But seem to be swapping cellulite for ripples and dangly bits! Lol.
I will be saving for some plastics but it's going to take a fare while to get the money together!

When are you having your opp hun?... Have you a date yet?

Don't let the skin thing put you of.... I've seen pics of some people that have lost 10 + stones and they don't need plastics! :)

no date yet, it will be some time between midApril to May. I am 35years old, desperate for the surgery so I can then have IVF. I had 5 rounds previously, and the only way i was accepted on the IVF was by getting my weight down mostly by starvation. Its a vicious cycle, if i lose the weight, my pcos might go and I might even conceive. thank you for your insight its very helpful

Oh the best of luck with it hun!.... I have seen from lots of posts women have conceived after losing the weight!.... It must be an added pressure for you but obvs the weight loss will make you fitter and healthier and improve your chances!.... Not to long to wait now then! :)

Just thought I would share with you that I had a gastric band at 24 and lost 8 stone to a size 6/8 I had terrible pcos and was told I would probably not conceive naturally. After I lost the weight I met my partner and fell pregnant at 27 very quickly and without even trying. Then I fell pregnant again when my daughter was nine months old. I'm 31 now and after having kids my periods stabilised from having four a year to regularly. Ironically falling pregnant often fixes a lot of pcos issues but it's so hard to do that! Losing the weight definitely enabled me to fall x good luck!

Hi yes i was bmi 32.6 with a start weight of 17 stone 7.... 2 weeks post op tomorrow and still got some pain to deal with, think a tummy muscle was torn in the op a bit which is bloody sore. Im a 31 year old guy and had it done at the countess of chester hospital privately by professor kerrigan.

Hi there had a BMI of 39.9 and had a sleeve done privately at Spire. 8 months post op and nearly at a BMI of 25.

Hi There bmi of 40 and had bypass, make sure you do have bypass not sleeve or mini bypass, the rny bypass is the only reversible procedure, good luck

sorry hun, was thinking of another thread, any potential readers please disregard my entry on mini bypass,

good luck to you you look very well ,

I had a private bypass a few years ago with a bmi of 36, best thing ive ever done and have had zero problems

I had a band at BMI of 35 with comorbidities, but after problems with the band I have been revised to a bypass when my BMI went back up from 25 to 30 & climbing.
I have to say I'm a bit nervous posting this as so many other posters seem to have much higher BMIs. That said at my max it was almost 40

My bmi is 33.5 and I'm having the bypass Friday 25th September. Originally I chose the sleeve then decided on bypass as I'm type 1 diabetic but also insulin resistant so have type 2 as well. Bypass produces better results for type 2s than the sleeve. HaveBT managed to lose weight on any kind of diet for 7 years since I became under active thyroid.

What results have you had with the bypass?
only had the bypass done two days ago so will update you when there is change. The stomach pain is nasty and feeling nauseous most of the time. How long does it take for this to pass? The retching is the 3rd ad there is nothing to come up so my bloated stomach is really sore.
