avatar and signature help?

if some 1 could give me a hand id be VERY grateful, im a bit of a computer thicko!!

i can only post a small signature at the bottom of my post, id like to have place to write goals and make it a bit longer but for some reason i cant, anything i add gets deleted and i can only use wot i have below, iykwim.. also i can seem to be able to put an avatar picture up, when i click the button to add a picture it wont let me add a picture at all..

you need more posts to get a bigger signature. When you reach 50, it reaches its maximum size and then you can put what ever you want in it!
