I can't get my head round this not drinking when eating malarky. I have just got myself a yoghurt for breakfast and made a coffee at the same time. Habit I suppose.
soon2Byummymummy! said:they say to wait 30-60mins before having a drink so your probably fine. but i have also read that it does not matter when you drink as if the band works by stimulating the nerves at the top of the stomach to make us think we are full like paul o'brien says drinking won't hurt cause food being flushed through the band quicker is what they used to say when it was thought a pouch gets filled if that makes sense. my dietician tells me to wait one hour to have a drink but my neighbour has had a band just over a year has lost 5 stone and she always sips a drink with her meal.????
Hi
I find that difficult too, although neither my provider or my consultant said it was necessary, so i am wondering if thats for after a fill or from the very beginning??
I have been getting up early to have my cup of tea and soluble vitamins, then about 45 mins later having a yogurt or scrambled egg? Is that enough time to wait??
We were told by dietician that if you wait a minute after swallowing mouthful of food them its fine to have a drink.
My surgeon, Mr Sigurdsson goes by what Paul O'Brien says and told me if I stuck by his 8 golden rules (on you tube) I would get the most out of my band.
Interesting how we all get varying advice. I was told to not drink 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after eating. I tend to stick to that. When I have eaten and drank I find I ate more - so avoid doing it.

I have a definate pouch created, band is anchored in place with a bit of my stomach pulled over to secure it and I was told to wait for liquids after a meal so my pouch is not flushed through..
We need to be finding out from our teams exactly what arrangement we've got individually or we might not get the best effects for us and then wonder why things aren't working as well as they should be x
