Bander weight loss before 1st fill?

hi all,

just being nosey as i seem to not be loosing much at the mo....

how much weight loss from band fitting to 1st fill?

Most of the weight i have lost was from the pre-op diet.

Is this normal?
thanks in anticipation

its perfectly normal not to lose much between the op and the 1st fill, as the initial restriction is only there from the op swelling and when that goes most banders have no restriction and can eat more when the desire to eat returns.

Hi girlys, I will be having my 2nd fill this Thurs, I have no restriction, I am hoping that I may get a little this time, becuase I will not be haveing another till after september. I am slowly, very slowly losing weight at the mom, but that is me not the band. I have lost 2ld short of 2 and half stone in around 7 or 8 weeks. I hope your first fill gose ok. keep up updated on your weight lose

Im the odd one out or so it seems - like to be different lol. I lost nothing on the preop but have lost 26lbs since the op. Loss has all but stopped but have my first fill a week on Monday, a little later than most as I didnt need one at my 6 weeks post op appointment.

I think that everyone is different and as long as your doing all the right things when your restriction is right you will be loosing!

Good luck x

Every body lose's weight at different paces Mazza and thats why its so hard to compare. If you do start comparing you'll expect more than your body can do and this will cause stress and upset. As I said in a previous post I'd gained 5lbs but had not noticed anyone else mentioning a gain so I felt I'd failed. Your weight loss has been great so be happy that you're losing at a nice steady pace and giving your body time to catch up. Thats how I think now and its a lot less stressful lol. Good luck with your 2nd fill Mazza.

I am the same as others. I am only losing weight at the moment via will power. Which is fine as long as I get restriction soon. I have my second fill on thursday and hope to get restriction and weight loss moving again. I had lost 18 kgs when they weighed me at mu first fill

My weight is also stuck. Ive lost about 1st since pre op but I now have no restriction and its getting me down. Although, its good to know everyone's in a similar boat before their first fill. Heres to fills!!

Bex you'll find you have to haave a little will power at this stage. Its hard because you experienced restriction but you'll get there. When do you go back? is it 6 weeks? I got my f1st fill when I went to my post op appointment so hopefully you will too.

Hey :)
I go for my post op on July 20th but as of yet im not scheduled for a fill. Im ringing the nutritionist tomorrow to see if this can possibly be brought forward a little bit.
How are you finding your restriction now? Im sure you have said before but how many fills have you had?
xx

Hi Bex, I've just had my 1st fill. I went for my post op appointment last thursday 25th june and saw the specialist nurse Liz. I asked about a fill and she sent me to x-ray to make an appointment and told me to ask if they were busy so I did and they said they'd do it there and then so I guess I fell lucky lol.I know you went private but do you have the same dietician and specialist nurse? The restriction is ok at the minute but I do feel a little more in my band would be better.

Thats handy being able to have the fill on the same day!
I have Narissa Walker as my dietitian. Shes really nice but hasnt been in touch since op so will have to call her.
i dont even know what size band I have I forgot to ask after my op but I was just relieved not to be in pain so i forgot!
You've lost an awesome amount of weight, its truly something to be proud of.
Ill be sure to let you know how I go on on the phone tomorrow
xx

Bex Nerissa is my dietician too and the only times I've seen her were the 1st group meeting and then she came on the morning I should have had my op but then it got cancelled. You'll have to chase her because she does'nt ring or anything lol. The specialist nurse is called Liz Mcgovern and she's absolutely great and down to earth.
