Bleeding Gums

Please read the OP post, she has had a band....not a bypass.

No need to scare her.

Banders should not need vitamins, they should get all they need from their food.

Get 'em down your neck. There was a news item about a women who died of malnutrition a couple of weeks ago after a bypass just because she didn't take her vitamins. You could be next.

Admittedly some people have bleeding gums for various other reasons, but if they've started bleeding after a bypass, and especially after not taking your meds, it'll be scurvy. Vit C tablets taste quite nice don't they? Next step is your teeth fall out.

I know this isn't a very nice mail, but you need telling.

The problem is it could be a myriad of causes and unless a person is a doc or dentist, advice should not be so finite. Hope you manage to get it sorted... it could be something much of us learn from.

Yeah im getting my 2nd fill tomorrow so i'll mention it to Paula my nurse when im down there, cant mention it to my dentist cos my aunt is the dentist nurse and doesn't know about my op and I dont want her to know either she's a nosey cow and half the town and country will know about it if she does!!

Oooo weezals sound good - are they protein? You could try Cordisal (sp?) tooth and gum paste. Hope all goes well with your fill.

My ex had it, not nice. But vit C shifts it as soon as you know.

Promise to read ALL the waffle next time, honest.

Only 3 days to my op, getting apprehensive now.

Hi Kate, I think every one has said it all. It would be worth asking the team or your GP if you feel your confidentiality will be compromised at the dentists. Would it be worth changing your dentist or asking the question on behalf of a friend??? Is your mouth or tongue sore? As well as a sign of gum disease it could also be due to oral thrush amongst other things. At least if you get it checked out it can be rectified.
