Afternoon folks, hope your having a fabulous week end.Having my bypass in 2 weeks and saw a previous thread about blockages, sounds awful and am really worried. What does it actualy feel like and how long can it last ?
Also once your back on to solid food can you eat things like fish fingers or bacon or are they to greasy ?

Many Thanks

Hi bellsie, the blockage thing is painful it feels like a brick sitting in your stomach. It usually only lasts for about half an hour but can be really uncomfortable. as time has gone on this has happened less often for me and tends to only be if i eat to quickly or don't chew my food well enough.

as for bacon and fish fingers. i can't do bacon but can manage the turkey rashers which are lower in fat. fish fingers are fine though although have found my tastes have changed and don't enjoy them as much as i did. It's just a case of giving things a go to see how you tolerate them as everyone is different.

Good luck with your op 2 weeks will fly by. take care x

Hi, like tammy said it feel really uncomfortable in your tummy, whenever I get a blockage it starts with mouth watering and wanting to be sick and it ends up with me been sickthats the only way I shift it! some fizzy pop helps sometimes as well just sip it and see if it goes down. Fish fingers are fine to eat but have to take it steady with bacon as its difficult to chew really well, first time I had a blockage was when I ate some eggy bread, not a nice experiance!

i had my first blockage the other day and it felt like a very small person sat on my chest it hurt like bugger but was my own fault for not chewing properly and it passed it hasnt put me off eating tho! its a small price to pay for weightloss
