pandora

finding my way again !
Bored of shopping for food
Bored of buying food
Bored of cooking food
Bored of eating food
Does food enjoyment return ?

I'm starting to really enjoy making new things (just call me Nigella :D)

Never thought I'd hear myself say that.

I've now got a fridge full of fresh ingredients to make meals from scratch as opposed to something that you just bung in the oven or microwave.

At the grand old age of 43 I've finally become domesticated

I feel the same way pandora, I'm also wasting so much money on food at the moment it's a joke! I can't even finish a ramekin dish of food. My freezer is chockablock with uneaten food
I have half bowls of food in the fridge I know I'll end up throwing out. It makes me feel so guilty :(

I can eat a side plate of dinner , but very few things excite my taste buds any more . I have found I like more spicy things , but my eldest doesn't like spicy food so I don't make it spicy .

Lol...don't worry your appetite will return..then the hard graft starts to keep on the straight and narrow, even with our bypasses.
My first year I couldn't bear food,I was terribly sick and on anti sickness meds, almost 2 years it's different!

I have appetite so I eat because of that & I have had minimal sickness , intact I have had a smooth journey , its just I get bored by it all

Understand but I get bored of having to eat & drink coz don't want to but know I must.
I do enjoy going out to restaurants but just having tiny portions or nibbles of meal. My boyfriend is happy to finish mine too.
I still love food' watch foodie cooking programmes & reading my foodie magazines. Just don't want to eat.

Gosh I don't know what to say. I still love cooking and eating. Maybe see if you can see the psychology team? As it might be more psychological than anything else

Think I do have a bit of a food fear post op. so maybe I need to seek help??

Happy to cook for others, still making my jams & chutneys.

Was that for me or bellydancer ?

I don't have a psychological team & tbh its not that I don't want to eat , just not much excites me

Oh sorry have I 'stolen' that post ? Pandora - have you seen Carol Bowen Ball's blog & her recipe books - they are quite inspiring.

Another thought - just take time out from it all , use protein shakes & soups for a bit ( I know not ideal but nutritionally sound ) & give yourself a rest. Then eventually you may be inspired agin?

Lol that's ok hunni , I don't mind :)
I keep meaning to get her books , never get round to it tho .
I still have to cook for the girls & I think I would miss the chewing , but good idea xx

Tonight is chilli , one of the few things I do still enjoy

I didn't before and still don't now enjoying cooking...means to an end for me. Grab n go much easier :)

I think it was more to you pandora as belly dancer has been very open about her issues with food. I guess the bypass affects us in different ways.

If you like spicy Cheryl make yourself something spicy. Your daughter hasn't had a bypass and doesn't need tempting to eat in the same way, I'm sure she wouldn't mind either getting herself something, if my memory is working she is older, or having a toned down version of what you are having. I know ladies are always Mums first but just for now put Mum first. Boredom can lead to quick fixes and you are doing great. You have enough challenges with shift working don't add food boredom into the mix.

thanks hunni , i have to say the other day when we had fajita i dished hers up then added extra spice to mine .
just added a pepperami to my chicken salad for extra bite ( & protein) made a nice change

Chewing and crunching were the 2 main things i miss both in the past and now, i don't know if it will be any different, some days i fancy something n when i get it i just eat a little bit n then just don't enjoy it so end up binning it. sad really but better for my weight. xx
