Hi guys, anyone in the Bristol area that's had a sleeve ??

I haven't had one as yet, have an appointment booked with consultant to gather more info end of Jan

Thanks xx

Kat, I'm a Sleever too. 3 months out for me and I'm just down the motorway in Devon. Welcome and ask away with any questions.

Hi Bear,

How are you finding the sleeve ?? If you don't mind me asking where did you have the surgery ??

Xx

Hi Kat,

I had mine privately at Kings in London. It was a huge deal to go that far as the implications if there were any complications etc. My surgeon told me that if I had any pain, I had to get myself to Kings A&E rather than go local. As it is, due to the tumour that was found on my liver, I have had to go back a couple of times so far.

Also, the 4 hr journey home was a trial. I was lucky in that my friends hubby drove all the way to collect me as my hubby had to stay with the children. It was painful though.

As for my sleeve - I flipping love it. The same as Karina, my start weight was low in obesity terms, (but my BMI has been as high as 43 previously, so I have a history).
I honestly feel as if 3 months out I can eat most of the things I ate before. I don't eat rice, pasta, bread, or potatoes. (I have the occasional baked sweet potato but that's it) . My excess alcohol intake has reduced to probably 7 units per week (I had well over 35 before) My whole family is eating healthier foods (although they're all normal BMI's) My weight loss is fairly slow, but actually I'm really ok with that.

Where are you thinking of having your op? I think Taunton do ops!

Hi Bear

Thanks for reply. There are 2 places in Bristol can do the operation. Have an appointment with the Spire on the 20th jan. It scares me a little as it is a big op so nice to talk to people that have had the op and it's going well.

Are you portions sizes very small ? How was recovery ?

Thanks xx

Recovery was good. Yes, I had a lot of pain in my lower right scar area, but this was due to a cough and the big internal stitches.

I had no sickness - but did get the odd wretch. They seem to have stopped now though, now that I know my limits.

Portions are small. Soup I can now do a tin of Weight Watchers soup (290g I think) in one sitting. I can have 1 fishcake and a spoon of baked beans. Ultinately, the band rule of 'whatever fits in a Muller light yogurt pot' is about right.
