Hi there - I'm from Preston ! As far as I understand central lancs pct don't actually do surgery etc you are referred to liverpool. My gp referred me in January this year to the weight management clinic at aintree hosp- it was an awful experience ....and as a result I'm now booked in to have a band privately on 2nd July with Gravitas at Spire Fylde coast . What stage are you at with your gp ? X

Well I saw a new gp who said as my bmi was over 40 she could refer me for surgery . It all seemed a bit easy and then when I hadn't heard anything I contacted my surgery and they said I couldn't just be referred for surgery " just like that" I would have to go to aintree for the weight management clinic. The app at aintree was horrible, auxiliary staff using foul language, being weighed in a store room while all staff chatting about nights out . During my consultation the dr was very condescending and wasn't particularly interested when I mentioned I was considering surgery privately but that I wanted to cover all options incase I'd perhaps missed something simple over the past 20 or so years! I just got a very bad feeling - even my husband couldn't wait to get out . I felt like I was just a number to them - which leads me to where I am now - going on hol tomorrow for 2 weeks then all systems go with the operation !!! Xx

A copy has been sent to me which i am hoping i will receive on tues (aft bank hol). I also have a follow up app on 8th June and i have since heard that Spire Fylde do Central Lancs bariatric surgery. Hiya ! Are you any further on than last time we spoke ? I had my band fitted yesterday and came home the same day. All is going well so far but it's early days yet .

hi, im under central lancashire pct, i have been having weight management in salford royal hospital and the doctors and staff their are amazing, and they fully beleive thay surgery is most suitable form of help there.

And i just got my funding approved from central lancashire pct and i was really shocked when i got a letter last week to say that my pct are funding my surgery with Gravitas at Spire Fylde coast hospital in blackpool, and i dont even need my phyc assessment any more, im having the 2 stage op, which is a gastric sleeve op and then a gastric bypass op as i want to have a baby in between and they have secured funding for both operations allready and i get 2 years privte aftercare with them too paid by nhs, and they really are great! so i highly reccomend spire.

and i saw them on monday and booked my op in for 21st of this month!!

i had choice of manchester, blackpool spire and manchester bmi and that was all in my letter from lancashire pct xx because of the surgery i'm having it has to be done in liverpool because not so many surgeons do this one, but had to go to blackpool spire first and they were wonderful and no weight mangement or evaluations on mental health.Good Luck

I live in Weeton (Preston) and I'm wondering how long has it took from a doctors appointment til pct agreeing to fund the surgery, I have a drs appointment on friday after being told by a surgeon to ask for a a gastric balloon from the gp xx
