Charing Cross

Well I've had my second appointment at Charing Cross hospital today. I have updated my diary in the other section but will post here as well, as I'd like to know if anyone else here was in that info session at noon and 1pm and whether anyone has met with Mr Krishna Moorthy (surgeon). I've not heard his name before today and I have the feeling he's not been with Charing Cross hospital that long.
Doing a bit of research on him at the moment. I'm not sure I'll get to have any say in who is doing my operation, but I would like to be with Mr Olbers as he's got an outstanding reputation and I know people who have had their op with him. I will (and did mention at my first and second appointments before today) request this from the hospital, but just in case .... won't do any harm to find out a little more about Mr Moorthy.
Thanks all!

Yeah saw that. Not keen to be his trial patient though! I mean no disrespect, I'm sure he's got relevant experience but still I'd rather be with Olbers ;) :) Thank you zns

i didnt know that it costs more to do bypass's keyhole than it does open. someone mentioned it the other day, and said that their pct are too stingy to pay for keyhole, so everyone has open. i cant remember who it was offhand

Mr Moorthy assisted Mr Ahmed in my surgery too, back in February. He came to see me a couple of times after the op and is an experienced surgeon who originally specialised in cancers of the stomach. Whoever you have will not be working alone - they work as a brilliant team and you will be in safe hands x

Thank you all for your replies! Much appreciated :)
xx

I wish I'd seen this thread before I went for my Op.
Mr. Moorthy was both the surgeon at my consultation and the one who did my bypass, assisted by a team.

I didn't have much time between finding out my date and my surgery (just over one week!) and didn't really research him (an important step, esp if going private, and independently choosing).

I went to my pre-op appointment hoping I would have Mr. Olbers or Mr. Ahmed, but the available slot was with Mr. Moorthy. I accepted, because he would not be allowed to operate in a Centre of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery if he wasn't a good enough surgeon :)

My surgery was textbook, no complications :D

For a future WLS-er, if you have him as a surgeon, you're in good hands, and have nothing to worry about :)

I'm sure he's a good surgeon. As you say they probably have high standards at CX. I was just trying to find out more about him thats all. His name had never come up on the forum so I was naturally curious.
I ended up with Olbers on the end because I specifically requested him.
Glad everything went so well for you sweets. CX are amazing.
