This isn't a complete list, but here are some of the most common...

  • Diabetes Mellitus - metabolic disorder resulting from the body's inability to produce enough, or to properly use, insulin

  • Obstructive Sleep Apnoea - when a person stops breathing during periods of sleep

  • Hypertension - higher than normal pressure inside the arteries

  • Intertriginous soft tissue infections - infections in excess folds of skin that are caused by obesity

  • Weight-related arthropathies (joint diseases) which impair physical activity

  • Obesity-related psychological stress
I had Type II DB before my Gastric Bypass and my blood sugars were out of control, even on 3g of Metformin a day.

Now I am off the Metformin and my blood sugars are, on average, around 8 mmol/l :D

Hope that helps :)

Hi,

I got mine on co-morbidities, I have quite a list but the main ones are Lupus and Psoriatric Arthritus. My Bariatric Co-ordinator researched the effects of weight and weight loss on my illnesses for the funding application.
