Cold Meds after Bypass

A friend was just telling me that they were sick with a cold, and I got to thinking, what happens after I have my bypass? I assume I can't use throat lozenges because of the sugar, same with cough medicine or things like the hot lemon drink. Would cold meds even work in pill form?

All these little things are starting to come up now that I know I'm going to be having the surgery... things I didn't think about before.

What happens if you get a cold, do you just have to suffer??

I haven't had my op yet, but am diabetic and take sf lozenges and cough medicine, I'm hoping these will be ok to take in the future.
