Curious??? All by-passers and sleevers

Thanks all really insightful, I went to the appointment alone, buts its like all the staff were surprised as they all said ....' Have you come on your own today'? Probably me being paranoid, However My consultant did say i want you to bring your husband along to the support meeting ... So I guess it's a little different from appointments and op's ?. Thanks so much each and everyone xx Jude

Jude - that's not enough!

We NEED to know who you saw, what they said, did you sit on the beige chairs???

Only joking, so glad it went well for you and hoping we can be of some support for you as it is/feels like such a long process xx

Hi, my husband only attended one of my appointments that was preop. That was to sign papers and ask any questions. Here in Maryland, it's mandatory to have and show some type of support. But he was one who suggested i go through OP cause he was feeling all my pain and depression i was going through. I could not have done it with out his support. Add he's been they through ask my surgeries and i would have really wanted him with me through this one. Being s major surgery of anything would have went wrong, i knew he was there to make and decide what decisions might needed to be made.

My partner comes to all my appointments with me. He choses to come. I'm not bothered whether he does or not really :)

I go to all mine on my own and will be going to my op on my own. My hubby freaks out if he has to go near a hospital!?!

It's easier as well don't have to think about anyone else but myself and therefore able to stay calm and focused.

I just get someone to pick me up if the hospital insists but to be honest even after an op I would be prefer to make my own way home as well! No questions are you alright etc

I go to all my appointments alone. My surgery is next week, husband will be at work and I'm going to catch the bus to the hospital.
I had brain surgery 6 times last year and did it alone I cope better, and the husband copes better when he is at work and busy.
I've only told one member of my family and they are on holiday so can't take me to the hospital.

Haha Sorry, Yes the beige chairs only 2 without arm rests tut!!!! i did fit in those tho thank god. I saw Sam - who asked are you on your own today?for weight/height/ bmi then Lindsay (dietician) who asked have you came by yourself?? And that my information was very comprehensive and it seems i have thought long and hard about everything. And then Dr Ahmed who asked me who have you brought with you today??.... Have they been reading this I wonder. Only the phlebotomist that didn't ask. Ermmm basically got to try and make a few changes like portion sizes and keeping fluids separate from eating. See the dietician in 3 months if I have maintained or lost they will apply for funding then if successful pop me on that infamous list ? and to also let them know which surgery i would prefer ( unsure) but overall very happy with the outcome all very positive everyone was lovely ?

Yay, it all sounds so very positive - I'm honestly over the moon for you. There's no getting round the fact there's a long way to go yet time wise but you're on the way.

When I had my 3 month appointment - at 4 months - with Jacqui, one of the dieticians, and she said she was going to recommend to Mr A that I went on to the list she gave me a note to give to the receptionist. When I handed it over she looked at it and could tell it had been a good result and she did everything bar hug and kiss me! (Maybe the fact it was 20 minutes after the world was meant to end and we were still there may have added to it :8855: )

I got a little confused as I got a letter back in November about this dieticians appointment in December and because I had seen Mr Das who's not the most verbose of people had no idea that this was the same as the infamous '3 month appointment' so thought that hadn't been booked!

Anyway, really pleased for you!

What with Kirsty in the summer, me about 3 months after her, a friend of mine 6 months after that (subject to her 3 month appointment being ok) and then you about a month after her it's going to be quite a hectic time!!

Yes I am more worried about a dental appointment I have tomorrow than that it was fine I didn't feel emotional or tongue tied it was all great....unlike the gp one where I was in floods of tears unable to carry on in this way. Yes that is a busy time but whoop have all your experiences to hear about , exciting stuff ?

Individual preference, respected. I know I couldn't have gotten this far alone. Really needed my families love, strength and support. Good luck x
