day 3 post op diet - hellllllppppp

Hi everyone,

I day three post op diet. I've always loved milk but now I wrech at the thought, I feel constantly sick. I'm suffering from a very bad upset tum (the poop kind - sorry if uve just had your tea.

What's up with me. I would rather not have anything than feel like this. Is this normal?

Also ive been given iron tablets to take before my op which I've been doing, then I suddenly thought I'll check the do's & dont's leaflet to see if that's make me have the plops (sorry again). What I read was don't take the hour before milk or 2 hours after milk as it effects absorption. Ha, you would think someone may have mentioned that been on a milk diet and all!!!

I must seem a real winge, I've waited to do this diet and I know at the end is my op, and yet I'm moaning.

Is anyon else struggling or is it just me?

Xxxx

Claire, relax, take a breath... You've got to get through this using whatever tools you can. Is it possible you can contact your team and ask if you can do the very low cal food diet? It might not be too late to change xx

Hi Claire...you are pre op..not post op darling, just so the peeps on here realise that.

Yes i agree they should have told you about the iron tabs.

Have you been having milky coffees lovey?

Thats what i aim to do for the next 10 days.

Hope you sort this out love. Huggs xxxx

Great advice there from Julie.....the first thing you need to do is not panic!!! Breath slowly... :D The milk diet is evil, pure and simple but its an evil we have to get through, its the last thing standing in the way of your surgery! I found that the thought of waking up and not being bypassed as my liver was too big was enough to keep me going when it got too tough! It does get easier as you go along....honestly! Try ringing your team in the morning and asking what they advise but in the meantime try and relax and think of the surgery at the end of it all and what it means to you :D XX

I meant pre op diet, that's cos my minds full of milk lol!!!

Hi sugga hope youre well honey!

I'm not normally a wuss and I've always liked milk but its churning my tummy big time.

Milky coffees I could try that? R we allowed to use sweetners???

Why don't they give us a choice, I thought the milk diet was the only one. I don't really have a team, who should I call?

What does the low calorie diet consist of?

Scared if I change I'll muck it up n my liver will balloon???

Sorry about all this. I'm due another pint of milk 2nite and I just can't do it :0(

Claire lovey you need to ring the specialist nurse in the morning i will pm you her number in a bit.

Yes we can have sweetners too.

I wouldnt change your diet until you have spoken to the nurse, as we were not given an option.

Try milky coffees with sweetner that may suit you better. Huggs xxxx

Bless ya sugga. R u sure we can have sweetners? It says no sugar on the booklet. Just so scared to do the wrong thing.

That'd be great if you could pm me that number I will call them 2moro.

Are you allowed to have lactose free milk?

Just wondering if its a lactose intolreance which you probably wouldn't be aware of if you've never had loads of milk before.

I agree contact your team and ask advice - they won't want you to be poorly before your op

xx

You can have sweeteners. You can have sugar free milk shake syrup. You can have coffee. If you're allowed yoghurt you can combine milk and yoghurt with ice to make a smoothy.

There are ways around this honey. And maybe try lactose free milk too. It could be the lactose which is upsetting you.

babe this might sound harsh but i dont want it to, there is no easy way, grit those teeth girl and push next couple of days xx

I hear what ur all saying but.........I feel very very sick and I'm living on the loo. I'm not hungry I don't want to mess up by eating it's none of that I just feel sooooo sick.

It reminds of morning sickness when I was pregnant. Gonna call hospital cos I take a lot of meds n maybe that's the problem or maybe I am lactose intolerant. Either was alls I know is I feel really really sick.

Let us know how you get on Claire. Thinking of you Angel xxx

Thanks bev :0) xxx

I have left a message with narissa & liz. I haven't had anything since yesterday at 4pm. And to add insult to injury I didn't make it back from dropping my little girl at school before I had an upset tummy again :0(

I'm drinking lots of water so I don't dehydrate. Hope I don't spoil things for my op a week today :0(

Have you had an answer yet Claire and how are you feeling now? Hope you are ok.

I know you asked about changing your username on another thread - just a thought but ask one of the mods. Grace changed hers so there must be some way you can do it.

Hope you are ok. xx

Hi hsmel,

I eventually got a reply at 3pm but the lady I spoke to was new so she didn't know what to suggest. She said she was calling one of the dieticians but it may be 2moro when she's back in touch with me.

It seems it may be the iron that I'm taking (only started the iron the day I started the pre op diet) so new tablet such as iron on a relitively empty stomach is not good!

So I've just had 2 yogurts today. Aslong as I don't feel sick I don't care.

Thank you for checking on me mrs
