Dissolve waiting list!

Are the NHS allowed to "dissolve" a waiting list?

i'v found out (on thursday) that i had been placed on a waiting list some six months ago (i had no knowledge of this) even though my funding hadn't been applied for.

Then i'm told by my surgeons seceretry (thursday again) that the "trust" is no longer doing bariatric's therefore i will be sent to the homerton or another one she said but i cant remember, and that the waiting list has been cancelled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

has anyone else had this happen to them?

is it right to cancel waiting lists, do i start at the begining now? i'm really trying to get my head around all this! its so emotional and really dont know how much more i can take..

i joined this site in the hope to have an outlet and informed source's, so i hope you don't think i'm becoming a or pest xxx

To be honest, with these financial cuts, the NHS seems to be allowed to make the cut wherever they like. Bariatric surgery would be a no brainer for them. Just hope they leave finances for obesity related health problems!

I am only guessing but I would think you were on a waiting list for a specific hospital. If they are not offering the procedures at that hospital anymore then there is no loist for you to be on so you will have to join the list at whichever hospital they will now refer you to.

It's a difficult one because yes, it does feel unfair that you 'may' have longer to wait, but then if I was already on the list at the new hospital I would be upset if people got slotted in above me because of where they had been on a different list - if that makes sense!!

Can you not contact your pct to see which hospital it is using for bariatric surgery now and ask them whats happening hon. It has to be so soul destroying being so near and now finding out there is no list. I hope you get things sorted xx

Thankyou all ever so much for your support, i'm going to crack onto it 1st thing monday morning by tea time the whole of kent bariatric process pen pushers will be aware of me good or bad lol xxx I'm not impatient actually far from it, i developed an illness 5 years ago that qualified me for surgery but i waited to try to lose this on my own and had been referred to an eating disorder specialist and looked at other options 1st xxx now i'm on this road i just want the wheels turning as a minimum lol xxx
