Congratulations on being that step closer Sedation doesn't mean you'll miss anything or at least it didn't for me. It just means you're a bit drowsy & relaxed. My advice is get throat spray & sedation. I was absolutely terrified as I have a really bad gag reflux, yet with a little TLC from the doctor I managed to do it.
so after sedation, the doc will tell me any craic? if i brought my hubby then doc could tell him? im very sensitive to meds that make you drowsy.... for example one antihistermine (spelt) and i can be a sleep allllllll day lol!
both does sound like something i could do to be fare!
Your hubby would have to wait in the waiting room. This is my experience of what happened. You just go into the room with your normal clothes on, they don't put you in a gown or anything. They give you whatever you've asked for sedation &/or spray then carry out they procedure. They then put you in the recovery room & once you're sorted they send you home. I got a piece of paper which said I had mild oesophagus, which I didn't even know I had!!
If you do opt for sedation you won't be able to go home yourself & someone has to come to the ward to collect you. I didnt really feel the benefit of the sedation until later that night!! But I still wouldn't do it again without it.
oooo gosh is it that bad... my appointment is weds so im gonna ask then if i need it, tho im sure he ll say anyways.. im getting myself worked up over this camera thingy...ill get embarrassed to if i make loads of nosies gagging..... x

You should have heard the noises I was making!! Ha, ha!!! I couldn't have cared less, I just wanted it done so I could get on the list for my bypass.
I babble on when I'm nervous so goodness only knows what I was saying. You should have heard what I was saying when I went to theatre for my bypass :ashamed0005:
thats not fair i havent got my appointment yet haha
im so pleased its come though for you i am intending of having the sedation and spray what ever they want to give me really i dont care as long as it gets done . i wonder if they are doing a clinic that day maybe i might get an appointment the same day - is it morning or afternoon
I had the throat spray and because i was hysterical they gave me a double iv dose of sedative too. Despite this i still remember every second of the procedure, so don't worry about being too "out of it".
They didn't say anything to me on the day though, and i was too stressed to ask anything either, so i got my feedback at the clinic appointment.
they just making sure everything is okay with the part of ya tummy that wont be getting used anymore...
Christine my appointment is at 4pm....so its quite late in the afternoon - yours might be in the post for the same day.... (2nd November)
let me know when you hear awt xx
i think i will ask for both.
