endoscopy

Not all hospitals require them ... I asked at my consultation & Sheffield do not do them. I was told why they didn't do them but can't remember the answer. I was just happy I didn't have to have one. Phew. I am sure someone else will have the answer for you but just wanted to let you know it is not compulsory with all PCT's. :)

I had one years ago and it wasn't that bad. You can opt to have a sedative if you're really nervous.

I had one of these a few weeks ago. I had the sedation from the advice of others on this site and I was pleased I did. I'll be honest it's not a pleasant experience but not painful in anyway. The sedation doesn't put you to sleep just makes you feel a little heady and just calms your nerves a little. The procedure itself took less than 5 mins. Good luck

At North Tyneside Hospital these are compulsory and you are not allowed sedation!!! I hated every minute of it but luckily it didn't last long and it was just another hoop to jump through which I was prepared to do but I hope I never have to have another one
