Morning everyone!

Im on the waiting list for a gastric sleeve and i suffer from Epilepsy. At the moment my seizures are well controlled but i was wondering if any of you guys with epilepsy had to change the form of medication for a while (eg tablet to liquid) and if the surgery affected you by having seizures?

Thank you!

I'm sorry I cant help you, but I would suggest that perhaps the bariatric team liaise with the neurologists or epilepsy nurse specialist as I'm guessing with absorption issues it might have a negative effect on epilepsy, my niece also finds that food deprevation is a trigger for her seizures.
Good luck x

Thank you. Il ask them to. My neurologist discharged me years ago as i am stable on medication so wasnt sure who to ask.

I don't have epilepsy bit do have complex conditions and disabilities. I chose the sleeve partly on the basis that the malabsorption with the bypass would cause too many complications with my various meds. I'm nearly a year out and have had no problems with medication so I wanted to reassure you one that score.
In terms of managing the other conditions I did find it worked better asking my various teams to liaise with bariatrics rather than the other way round. Maybe contact your old consultant's Secretary and ask them to help you? I've found that's worked well before too. Anyway good luck and I hoped that's some help x

Brilliant reply FeeBee! This site isa godsend. I think i habe the secretary email address somewhere. Il email her for some advice if my GP doesn't have any answers.

Have a lovely weekend!
