Has anyone had an exercise test at the UCLH?

I have mine tomorrow so wondering what to expect. I'm guessing I'll need to take a change of clothes but will I also need trainers or can I do it barefoot/in socks?

Sorry can't help I am afraid not that far on my journey. Who is the surgeon at uchl now as I understand dr fiennes is no longer there and that is where I was going to go?

I am under Dr Adamo at UCHL and have been really pleased with the service i have received so far, i never had to do the excercise test so sorry cant help :) x

I'm actually under Mr Sufi at the Whittington, but they're sending me to the UCLH for my fitness test.

Why are they sending you there? I have mine at the Whittington I think............better go and check my letter!!!

Oh, and are you coming to the support group tonight?? I am going to try and come but not sure I'll make it in time!!!

Just checked and mine is through UCL but at the Whittington. How strange!!!

It's because I wanted the appt today to coincide with the meeting tonight. Trying to double up appts wherever I can to save on the amount of travelling I need to do, otherwise it's going to cost me a fortune in train fairs and hotels (if I have an early morning appt) ;)

I'll be leaving shortly so will hopefully see some of you this evening. If I start to fall asleep during the meeting give me a sharp nudge! Feel tired already and the day hasn't even started yet lol

Ah ok!! Makes sense! Lucky you could get the appointments to coincide! My work are not pleased with all of my appointments at the mo!! Whooops!! I will hoepfully see you tonight, but won't be able to leave until 6 so will miss most of it!! We'll see how motivated I am at 6 o'clock!!!

I think I saw you come in not long before I had to leave to get my train home! I looked for you to come say hello in the break but you'd disappeared by the time I had a word with Kirsten lol

Hopefully next time! I'm sure there were a few mini-mins there tonight but I'm terrible at remembering names so not sure who was who lol

Oh, forgot to say that the guys who did my test today are the same ones doing the tests at the Whitt.

It's not scary at all, quite easy really. You get hooked up to ECG, oxygen, BP, breathing machines etc and then have to cycle for as long as you can on the exercise bike. The first 20-30mins were easy then it got harder as they increased the pressure/tension whatever they call it lol

Oh and make sure you wear your best underwear ;) :D

LOl was just bout to post and ask how it went till i read ur post :) whats ur underwear got to do with it :)

I have to show them my knickers?!?! Better put some on on the 24th then!! ;-)

Oh and I was kicking myself for not actually asking what you lovely ladies look like!! I didn't recognise anyone from the site and was a bit thrown when I came into the room and everybody was sitting in circles!!! Think I lost my nerve to talk to people after that! SOooooooooooooooooo not like me at all!!!

So the bike test isn't that scary then Twiggie? Have you had a sleep study? I had mine two days ago. Not scary at all either. Though haven't had my results yet so that may change!! Have you got many tests left now??? I only have my bike on the 24th.

Because they have to attach all the bits and pieces to you for ECG and heart monitoring. It's only upper body they need access to, just glad I was wearing my best bra lol

It's only because you'd said you were going to be late that I knew it was you. I don't know for sure which other ladies from this group were there but some of the stories sounded familiar from posts I've read here. Just wish I could remember which ones lol

The sitting in circles was a new thing and I was very apprehensive at first too but it was a good ice-breaker to get talking to some of the post-oppers as Kirsten made sure each circle was a good mix of pre/post ops. Learned a lot more about life after a bypass than I knew before!

Would have liked to have stayed for the second part but if I get the later train I don't get home until almost midnight and it had been a long day for me already.

I've not had the sleep study yet, not even got an appt for it. I was supposed to phone Lorna today and forgot lol

I've got the echo and gastroscopy a week on Tuesday (dreading it!) Then I *think* it's just the psych evaluation which Mr Sufi has agreed I can ask my GP to refer me locally if they'll agree to it. Just hope I haven't messed up and find it'll take even longer to get an appt this way though! Can't see my GP until 30th so won't know until then. Might phone the clinic on Monday to get an idea of waiting times.
