Fast tabs

Linzi - Chichester use as first line protection for a few weeks only while other providers say permenant cover. I keep a box by me and restock when they are started. Your doc should be prepared to do this for you as a safeguard if you explain. Its more cost effective then taking them all the time if you're not suffering any problems. Mr Somers was happy with this

I was given Lansoprazole capsules from the hospital, but my GP checked & said there was very little cost wise between the Fastabs & the Lansoprazole capsule, so she was happy to prescribe me the Fastabs, which I personally prefer. My provider recommended that I take them for 3 months. I think we've all mentioned on loads of occassions how bizarre it is that each provider has their own idea about stuff...no wonder people get confused!

I was only suppose to have them 4 weeks, but got chronic tummy ache when i came off them...

I had my op done at Taunton the same place as Angie so was also told to take them for 3 months but as some of you know i've been feeling sick 24/7 so 3 days ago i decided not to take the fastabs for a few days & see how i feel & i must say for the last 2 days i have not felt sick, i'll see how it goes but as we always say every hospital is so different!!

I've been told I'm on them for life and the fasttabs are better. I prefer the fasttabs. I hate capsules.

It's sounding variable around the country... best to just follow what Mr A has told you Jac... as you do, you are always so calm and organised about things... I'll be taking note of this for sure... love and hugs xxx

Well I emailed Mr Ammori last night and had a reply waiting for me this morning.

I asked about being told to eat veggies first, then protein when I thought it was the other way around. And I said I was worried I had stretched my pouch (his reply might be of interest to you Linzi because I know you worried about the same).

I also asked him to confirm how long I should be taking the Fastab. In the hospital he told me for life. Apparent he said different to my GP. His email is copied here:

Dear Karen

It's way too early for stretching the pouch; dint worry.

With regard to diet, I'd suggest you follow Jennie's advice. She's been doing this for sometime and is very experienced.

I recommend the lansoprazole for two years after surgery as I indicated on my discharge letter to the GP that you shoild've received copy of. I copied this email to Louisa, my secretary, so that you could ask her for a copy of the letter if you haven't received one.

Hope this helps

Best wishes

Mr Ammori

Tell me about it

I lost 1lb week 7 and stayed the same week 8 and I reckon I'll stay the same again week 9. I'd do better at Slimming World :(

I also had my surgery done at Taunton, with Mr Welbourn, my surgery was done privately. I was told I only needed the fast tabs for 4 weeks!

See even the same surgeon gives different advice!

Oh Karen... it is disheartening when you see others losing so much more but I keep telling myself that this will help me maintain like I've never been able to do & thats the big difference!

I'm sure you'll get a whoosh... looking at peoples stats those that don't lose much for a couple of weeks then have a big weight loss, I hope thats the same for you. xxx

I have been told to take fastabs for life. And if my pouch feels sore to increase to 2 per day. I have also been told to make sure all medicienes/vitamins are in liquid or chewable form.
