Can I ask, did you all lose much before your surgery? I have lost some but plateaued out. Am joining a leisure complex at the weekend so I can exercise in the water (can't swim unless doing back stroke as I have lower back problems)
I've also bought some ankle weights for use in water. Also know the importance of exercise for after op.
Meeting the surgical team in November with a view to have the surgery in Jan.
Also, how soon is generally the norm for returning to work?
Many thanks
Rix

I lost just over a stone since mid Feb but then stalled (ie gave up) in June time and maintained and then I have been on holiday for 3 weeks and have put 7lbs on. Not ideal, but I decided I would enjoy my holiday (not going over the top) as it would be the last one where I could relax and eat out proper meals and eat desserts etc. One of the reasons I stalled in June was I had knee surgery so I have not been very mobile since then and it was easier whilst I was recovering to eat non diet friendly toast and make myself a sandwich rather than plan full on diet food! However, if I had stayed in the NHS pipeline I would have to remain more focused on my losses whilst I was on the waitlist (probably until March next year) but as I am now going privately, this is not so much of a concern for me.

Returning to work, some people do after 2 weeks, some take longer maybe 4 or 6 weeks, it depends what your op is, what your job is and how you heal/cope after the op.

Hope that helps.

I'd lost about a stone beforehand. I took a month off work but at quite push could have gone back after a fortnight. I work on a one to one basis with people which is fairly low intensity from a movement point of view but psychologically and emotionally demanding.
Getting a doable exercise programme is a great idea, good luck :)

I lost less than half a stone before the LSD. I was on the waiting list for 4 years and then expected surgery before March 16 and surgery was last month. I'm still off work (week 3) and I plan to take the full 6 weeks off as I need to get my head around everything and I want to look after myself. I'd planned and saved as I'm only on SSP, which is rubbish, and I can afford to do so. I work with people, it's emotionally draining, I want a complete rest as I was running the service practically single handed until about 6 weeks before surgery and I'm still exhausted. I also need to be able to drive, which I plan to try next week.

I lost 6lb before the surgery, I had a two week pre-op diet and that seemed to be all that my body wanted to loose x

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate all your comments.
I was wondering about driving, thanks for that. I have to be able to drive to get to work. I work on a small hospital's main out patients. So I don't lift but do walk about a lot. Might take longer then. I have saved 3 weeks holidays up but think I'm gonna need more than I've saved. I get sick pay for a month, then half pay for a month then ssp. Just not sure what to tell work. They are great, so I want to keep them as informed as Poss.
Thanks again xx
