Feeling rather annoyed and fobbed off !!!

emma-louise

my new life!!
Weeks ago I'd received a distressing letter that after a recent meeting of 7 doctors/nurses about my stomach problems I'd be having, they thought it was in my best interest if I went to the baratric clinic and discussed about the possibility of a twisted bowel.
Of course after reading this I was rather worried..
My appointment was this afternoon, and I've come away feeling rather rushed and fobbed off slightly.
I'd explained my pains I've been getting(mostly just brought on by simply crouching/bending/sitting)and the doctor just said he doesn't think it's anything !!!!
What the hell...I have got to live life not being able to simply crouch over a table for a length of time just drawing without pain coming on!.
He agreed for me to have a CT scan which he gave me no info on,and I'm just a bit annoyed that I just felt fobbed off,he had me out of that office in 10 mins after waiting 1 1/2 hours..
Anyone had a CT scan on tummy after gastric bypass?

Oh hun :( So sorry to hear this. I can't help with the CT scan, but is it worth complaining to PALS? some surgeons have no bedside manner.

Hi yvessa hope your well,
I don't know what to think,I should be glad he doesn't think it's a twisted bowel.
But there is something going on in the tummy area!

I have no idea how you do this in the NHS but do something about this.

I went to see my GP two weeks ago about a stomach pain that I have had for a few months, I was given a choice of hospitals, I chose the first available appointment (today), and it happened to be in a not very nice private hospital, need to have CT scan and a tube to the very tippy top of where the sun doesn't shine. Saw consultant this morning, went to another BMI hospital ( on NHS ) early afternoon, and had CT scan, within 3 hours of seeing consultant, diagnosis divertulitis. Job done.

Still got the 'small' matter of the other diagnostic to come  but I have an answer.

Chase your GP and demand to get referred, the NHS rocks (well today anyway)

I would definitely kick up a fuss. Struggling with something non wls related at the moment. And coming up to my surgiversary.

Hi
I would complain as I've never had any probs before infect the care I've had has been excellent.
I'm going to put it down to a 'bad day' but next time I will not be fobbed off!
Is CT scan just in a tunnel?

Sorry to hear that your struggling personal,

Hiya lovelies sorrya to hear that Emma I have put off going, some days have pain n some days dont. Some days I have to help myself to go to the loo and some days I don't. I am concerned because I do not want to have an op on that area really, I am sure I have a rectoceal, and evnetually thing will get a prolapse of womb can feel it all coming down when I have to push. My dad had diverticulitis, i think he used to have fybogel every day twice a day and mebeverine tablets. xx

Hi Chrisa,
Lets hope one day we will both be free of worries and pains xx
And I know what you mean about bit wanting another op,I'm sick of operations in all honesty I've put up with these pains due to fear of needing an op.

Thanks Hun. To be honest more worried about my health right now. Surgiversary is taking a back seat.

Sorry to hear that you had such a rough time, and I would definitely think about complaining.

I had a abdo ct scan a couple of weeks ago - I had to swallow a drink (just under 1 litre) and was given 1 1/2 hours to do this in, then changed into a gown and put on a table with a canular inserted, as they put in a contrast half way through. This makes you feel as though you are wetting yourself and can give an awful taste in your mouth, but it does not last long. You then go into a tunnel, but it does not feel claustrophobic at all and there is lots of space around you. It does not last long at all.

I feel your pain.. the only problem I found is Im not a specialist and knowing this full well, some people chose to fob us off to then say later down the line that the problem is "x,y and z". I was told my eating problems were normal in October. Now 5 months on Im told theyre not and they dont know what the problem actually is and I need to just "get on with it".

We all chose this route for a better quality of life and whilst it does in many respects, theres the little mermaid sea-witch catch. You take one issue, remove it/fix it and develop for an alternate cost/problem.

One thing I will say to you, is continue to press for the answers you need, and dont suffer in silence. Im not, and neither should you or anyone else. Hope your feeling better soon x

have they mentioned adhesions these can be really painfull i had them after a csec/hernia repair and couldnt move or push a pram without alot of pain and also gave me a upset tum as my womb bladder and bowel had stuck together

I can't comment on what you are going through only wish you luck and agree with the others that you shouldn't have to stand for it and you shouldn't have to be in pain so keep fighting for answers. I was just going to say that most modern hospitals ct scans these days are like a doughnut shape. The bed moves through it and there is lots space around, not like MRI's that are more tunnel shaped. Best of luck and keep us updated xx

Thanks everyone,

I've been told hopefully I should get my scan done in 6 weeks,I thought it was mean the way I wasn't told what an abominal scan would involve, and whether you need a dye/drink or how long if would take etc..
I have to have a brain scan done every year so I'm used to going through scanning tunnels.
When I do get the scan done and discuss the results.
Whatever the results I know these pains are here!
And something is causing them!
I never suffered with wind pain/bloating or pains just from sitting/crouching after a while before j had this bypass done.

Yeah defo need some answers n Yve hope yours resolves itself and your mind can be put at rest xx

expect we not guna hear the pitter patter of tiny feet from you girlies, i will av to start looking for a prezzy xx ha x
