Is it safe to fly a week after an operation? I read somewhere that it increases the risk of deep vein thrombosis.

I suppose it is as the people who go abroad for surgery fly back within the week after. You will have to ask your team & also tell your insurance company that you have had surgery a week ago :)

Sent from my iPhone using WLSurgery

I was told by Sunderland Royal that it was six weeks for long haul flights, but prob a lot less for short haul. Hope that helps x

I had my op on October 11th and flew back to UK on October 14th. Had to wear flight socks but otherwise nothing different from a normal flight and no problems :)

I had my op in brno and they give me an injection everyday while i was there and sent me home with 5 days worth that prevent DVT. I had no problems. So I think clinic's are aware of this and treat people flying home.
