Funding?

I've mentioned people talking about funding and realised that no one has actually told me that my op is being funded.

If your op is being done on the NHS does someone have to tell you that you've been grated funding or will you just be put on the waiting list and told if you're not being funded?

I hope this makes sense.

Thank you,

I'm on the waiting list. I hope this means that the funding has been approved. I think it does but I'll call the secretary to make sure.

Hi my journey for wls started march 2009 . My funding took a long time, at my first appointment with my surgeon he told me at the very beginning yes I will be happy to do the op .
While my husband & I were still in he's office we heard him record to he's secretary that he had accepted me, also what test to send me for & apply for funding.
I thought everything was in hand & should be looking at febuary 2010 for my op?
I started to go for test at the hospital in October 2009 .
Some friends I met at the hospital I was at were having their ops at the same time as me, they also got letters or calls to say their funding had been approved .
Xmas came still no funding for me then feb/march 2010 came & my friends had their ops I was still waiting..
I finally called the hospital very upset that I was still waiting & I had completed all my test.
Well I found out there was a big problem with my funding & my surgeon & secretary had to fight to get it. I finally got it approved august 2010 17 months after I had started my journey at my GPs.
I'm due to have my op January 2011, 22 months after I started my journey.
So yes call your hospital don't just expect it to be done, hopefully it will be in place for you but just make sure.
Good luck c

Thanks for sharing Diana,

Im sorry that it took so long to get your funding sorted out.
I will definitely call the hospital on Monday. It's a shame that my surgeon and GP didn't mention anything about the funding process. I'll let you know how I get on. x
