General surgery? is that bad?

I have my pre op assessment tomorrow, almost exactly a year after being put on the waiting list for surgery.
Obviously I'm getting nervous and blowing things out of proportion, but when putting the surgeons name in search engines he keeps coming up under 'general surgery' as a specialism. This isn't general though .........

I can't find anything that says he is bad, he seemed lovely last year when I had my appointment with him, mechanics work on all kinds of things with cars - maybe surgery works like that??

The truth is, I'm scared. Can anyone tell me something amazing about Abraham Botha at St Thomas' hospital (London)?

Thanks Joffy, I know he has a private practice alongside his NHS work. I was hoping someone would pop up who he had performed surgery on....... You never know your luck.

My surgeon was also under General Surgery ... this is common & did worry me at first but he is one of the leading Bariatric surgeons with nearly 4000 bypasses under his belt, so no idea why this is. Don't worry honey xxx

Wonder whether there is a list you can go out where the trainee surgeons can surge on you - you know - a bit like going to the local tech to have your hair done on the cheap by the students, but it takes all day???

Thanks for resurrecting this thread! My surgeon is a general one too, but who has done tons of bariatrics, so this thread makes me feel relieved!
