The Wrap or The new 'Kenetic Energetic Nutrition' stated on Sky news online 28.04.2012

Hi everyone,

I was just about to take the Wrap seriously after all the research i've done here on our forum when this comes along. The KEN, or Ketogenic Enteral Nutrition diet. OMG!

I know this is new to the UK, but does anyone know anyone personally who has had this tool fitted. An NHS Dr is recommending it as a tool for weight loss, and fighting of the critics with his knowledge as he has worked with obesity for over ten years. Recognizing that it is a good kick start- which is what we all need as we can soon become bored of the SO CALLED healthy 2lb a week weight loss regime, which he states does not wash with the public otherwise obesity wouldn't be rising. He states this works because of the kick start as well as an healthy eating plan. This is used at home and even through the night with 1 hrs grace to clean and fit it. All done at home and you can work too if you are not embarrassed by the tube etc.

It's big business in America and has been even bigger in Italy. You have the tube fitted up your nostrils and down to your stomach and clips on to a fitting behind your ear, for the liquid diet which lasts for ten days, £350ish, giving you a kick start to healthy eating plan. Tests have shown that between 8%-10% weight loss each time on the tube, 2 stone in 10 days for some who have tried it, then you eat healthily for ten days, then pay another £350 for the tube and liquid diet etc. Tests have shown that between 8%-10% weight loss each time on the tube.

Interesting! BUT WHAT SHOULD I DO.

My personal opinion on this one is that unless you completely change your eating habits 100% forever afterwards, then you will have wasted your money. My feeling is that rather like a normal diet, once you come off it, old eating habits will creep back. You might be a couple of stones lighter, but if you have a lot of excess weight, it will end up being a very costly process. It would be cheaper to just completely change your eating habits without spending £350+, although most of us know that's nigh on impossible, or we wouldn't be here on this forum! I'm a bypasser and the fact that it has forced me to change my eating habits for good, whether i like it or not, is what makes my op a success. I wish you luck with whatever you decide.

I would stick with tried a tested bariatric surgery, these things come over from the states all the time. What if you get fed up doing it at home and cleaning it etc.It sounds new too,is it cheaper than other wls?Can you get it on the nhs?If not I wouldnt touch it myself.Maz x

Agree with previous posts. Stick with bariatric methods it's a long term change & solution.

Why not just do a vlcd , much cheaper , then you can put all the weight back on and be back to square one !!!
