Hi Everyone, Local Advice?

Im new to this!!
Just been reading the different posts on this forum site and had to join.
You are all doing so well and some posts are really inspirational.
I have a BMI of over 40. After years of diet/heartache I am desperate for a Gastric band to help me get to a normal size!!!
I could never afford to get it done privately so will have to put my faith in the NHS. I live in Eastbourne and would like to hear from others who have had the op locally.

Wayhey I'm from Eastbourne I am not going to Chichester though, I am going to London as it is easier for me to get to. Not sure how to contact you personally as you need a certain amount of posts to operate the message system

Nice to know there is someone who is local and in the same boat. it would be really helpful to know a bit more. (tell me to mind my own business if you want)
I haven't even seen the doctor yet . . . Dreading the whole shaking of heads and dissaproving looks from a nice but never been over weight doctor!
Suppose i'm kinda scared she won't recommend the surgery.
So......
How long did you have to wait to be referred?
Do you have to go see lots of other specialists?
I'm sure there is loads more I was thinking to ask, but I cant think.
