Hi Everyone,

I just want to say this site is a wealth of knowledge, I have been looking at the forum for the last couple of months i thought its now time to say hello!!
My bypass is booked for the 28th August with Basil Ammouri but not sure if this is going to be put back as recently been in hospital with gastilitus for a week and I have to have a camera down on the 14th of August, fingers crossed if its ok I will have my bypass on the 28th. I opted to go privately after my doctor suggested a band or bypass but then once I thought about it she said I wouldn't be able to have it on the NHS because there wasn't enough wrong with me ( I have severe PCOS and fertility problems) and BMI is 40 but still wasn't sufficient. I originally wanted the band as it wasn't as i felt that a bypass was quite drastic but after talking to Dr Ammouri and him suggesting the bypass as it would suit me better thats what I am going for.
The reason I am having the surgery is me and my husband would love to have a second child ( Rhys is 2 and was conceived on clomid) my periods have gone away and the tablets doctors previously prescribed me when we was trying for Rhys didn't work this time so as always weight is why they aren't working.

I carn't wait for my new lease of life and really hope it doesn't get put back. As most of you I have tried every diet on the earth and I lost the weight really slowly and eventually put it all back on.

I look forward to chatting with all soon x

Hope very much you get the go ahead for your bypass x In the meantime welcome to the forum and hope you enjoy being part of the gang here x

Good luck with your surgery hope u get the all clear and surgery can go a head for you. Hope you get your second child, it will be worth it and Dr Ammori is great xxx

:welcome2:Hi Claire and welcome to the forum i hope you find it as helpful as i have. Good luck with your wls journey, Marie.

Hello and welcome. All the best for your surgery, i hope it does exactly what it says on the bottle and your family will be blessed with the patter of little feet when the time is right...

Please listen to Mr Ammori's advice on how long to wait before you try for a baby so that you are in optimal health xx

Thanks for all your words of support they are appreciated.

Julie - I spoke at length with Dr Ammori at length re getting pregnant after surgery, he advised to wait 12 months to let my weight stablise, I also spoke to my fertility specialist and she said the same and booked me an appointment in 12 months time to see her.

I cannot wait I am so excited x

welcome and good luck on your journey claire xxx

Hi Clare
I had my bypass with Mr Ammori on the 23 July 2010. Touch wood so far everything has gone well. I was the same as you was turned down by the NHS and then got a loan to self fund. I also wanted the band but with my chronic stomach acid and other minor issues Mr Ammori said the bypass was really my only option and Im glad that I took his advice. Good luck and hope all goes well.
Tania
