Hi all I have been looking at hospitals and think I like this one but would like to hear you views on it before I ring my gp and tell them look forward to hearing you good and bad points xx thanks Susan

I had my op there on 28/5 this yr and I can honestly tell you they were excellent. I had my op on a sat so was on the private wing, even better!

Their after care was amazing. I had a kidney stone 7wks post op and was originally admitted to kingston hospital but then CX had me transferred up there and made sure there were no complications from surgery. Even after I was given the all clea,r and passed onto urology, Mr Ahmed and his team still came on checked on me for 4days in a row to make sure I was ok.

Def recommend x

Arr thanks it's reassuring to know I think I've made the right decision hope you don't mind me asking, how long did you have to wait once you were referred to the hospital? what was the waiting list like ?

I was referred in Dec last yr and had op in May, so not long at all!

Wow that is quick. What kind of things do you have to do for them? I saw on the website abut group sessions and food diary
and bits and read something on a sleep study does every one do those things or is it all different , hope you don't mind me asking xx

Course I don't hun.
I went to a group session and was told about the diff ops and met some people that had previously had the op. I had to have an ECG and blood tests on the day and inform them of what op I was interested in. (In jan)

Next, I had to see the psychiatrist and doc all on the same day (that was in feb) then I saw the surgeon in april and was told I could have surgery and signed all the consent forms and was told to start the pre op diet then.

Had my pre op assessment on 16/5 and then op on 28/5. It was soooo quick!

There was no mention of food diary or sleep apneoa (sp?) test.

Hiya,

there are quite a few Charing Crossers on this forum, me being one of them. I can't praise the hospital and its staff enough. My surgery was textbook, virtually pain free, the nurses were really really lovely and caring. I didn't find the experience at the hospital stressful at all.

Would thoroughly recommend CX to anyone.

Just like AngelEyezHoney I had a pretty short wait (see my signature for dates), although I am told the wait is longer now between appointments.

It is also worth noting that the whole bariatric unit is moving to St Mary's from CX from October/November I think.

Ask away, happy to help.

Thanks that's good to know , but now I'm a bit worried there moving? Where is st marys? And what does this mean? Don't know really if that a good or bad thing xx

St Marys is in Paddington. I don't know that it's a good or a bad thing. The staff are moving too so you should get the same level of care regardless of where they are located.

No probs suwie!

I had my first app with the team in July 2010.

So from that app about 14 months after but that was cos I had to wait for the torture of an endescopy lol!

The waiting list is really long if you have to have 1 phone them for the appointment cos they don't hurry themselves hun.

Then once I had that in April of this year things seemed to speed up.

Good luck with your 1st app and don't worry about the waiting time cos everyone Is different and some people only had to wait 6 months all in it just depends on your health that's all hun.

The one thing I can say is they are allegedly the one of the best team in the country and have been on tv so you are in good hands and they are extremely helpful and thorough !!

Good luck xx ?
