Hi everyone,

I am considering wls and have a question, how long can the band stay in for? Best of luck to everyone,

thanks!

Ah, the simple answer to this is that bands havent been around long enough to produce 'average' life spans. The first band was fitted 15-16 years ago, however since then materials used and technology has improved.

Sorry for not being able to give you a definative answer !

hi sole,
sorry im not really sure but i didn't want to read and run. if i had to guess (sorry) i would say that everyone is different, some bands only last a couple of years and have to be replaced and others last much longer.
im sure 2bandsliz and other banders will be along soon with some great advice :0)

There is no simple answer to this.

If a band has no faults or problems, it will hopefully last 10-15 years before needing to be replaced.

But there is not a massive amount of supporting evidence.

The longest I know about is 8 years and that is on a lady I met a month or so ago and hers is still going good.

they reakon every bander will need at least 1 replacement in there lives, my 1st band lasted me 3.5 years and was removed & replaced during the same op, i was unlucky as the fill tube came away from the band end, they reakon 10 years will be average for a bands lifespan, its just like buying a car or a washing machine, nothing lasts forever and will need re newing at some point.

Thank you so much for the replies, it has been helpful. I am in two minds whether to go for the band or the bypass, I do like my sweet things, but yet I am also a volume eater. Maybe I should just go with the bypass it would be one operation, anyone else had this dillema?
