well after much concideration and advice from many of you, i have booked my consultation with the wls group on the 30th of october. Looking to have my band fitted on the 13th of november (and no! its not friday) hehe.;)

Great news and well done on making such a big decision. your date will come round in no time at all. xx

thank you i'm getting really nervous now..... only last week i thought i'd be waiting another 2 years for the nhs but noe HEY!! i could be getting it done in a month?? you have done great just looking at your ticker!! well done you xxx

It's natural to feel nervous. i had big wobbles just prior to having it done but know 100% that i have made the right decison. Not only have i lost over 5 1/2 stone but i no longer need medication for diabetes and can run around after my children. It truly has changed my life and i am so pleased to have been given the oppertunity to have a healthy and happy life.

Good luck with your op and keep me posted look forward to hearing about your experience and tracking your progress xx

Great decision!

You'll meet Wendy at WLS. She is fab and really knows her stuff. She also genuinely cares about "her girls" and is always there for you.

All the best... Let us know how you get on... xx

I echo that, it is a great decision (but a hard one to make - those of us that have been there know that!) Well done and lots of luck to you xx

thanks guys, i have spoke to coleen and she was lovely, just trying to get my head round everything as it seems to have happened so quick, really pleased also because the hospital is only half and hour away from door to door, so not much travelling to do!! i shall let you all know my progress after my consultation
xxxxx

Thats great Donzi, congrats on making a decision that will change the rest of your life (for the better) :D

What area are you in?

hi shell, thank you im in lancashire, having done at preston, just slightly concerned with work as i have hasd some time off already on the sick and worried they will give me a warning!! anyway do you know how long recovery is and when i should be looking for returning to work, i know each and every person is different but do you poss think 1-2 week??

xx

Hi i had 2 weeks after post op (for exactly the reasons you have said that i had some periods of sickness before and wasn't sure how it would stand with me bing off for longer). to be honest i could have done with longer and rushed back in to quickly. see how you feel but listen to your body and if you need longer off then take it x

I had 2 1/2 weeks off (first time off sick, novelty), but my job is very sedentary and I can work from home if I want to, but I could have done with longer.

I doubt you'll be up and about for the manchester meet on the 15th, shame!

However, tammy and I had bypasses, I think most banders went back sooner with no problems from memory of reading people's diaries!

i have heard people say a couple of days and back to work within a week, so like you say i will have to see how it goes, i cannot believe how much weight the two of you have lost i bet you feel fab!

Sure do, and you'll feel the same soon!

Hi Donzi, just wondering if your actually having the op at Preston (is it Fulwood Private ) I`m going to Dolan Park on the 28th Oct, didn`t realise there was somewhere to go in Preston ( I`m from Lancs too, hence the name lol ) How much r they charging u for your band there if u don`t mind me asking and what does this include? I`ve read up about the aftercare package ( fills etc ) for wls as no after care is included in my band price. Do you know if they do this at Preston also? Sorry about all the questions - just thought going to preston for any future fills is def better than having to travel to Manchester if there`s an option. ( I won`t drive to Man its too busy lol ) Thanx

hi lancs lass, im from morecambe, the wls group do a package at the 1st trust private hospital, the price was really good its £5950 for the band and 2 years aftercare with unlimited fills and support over the 2 years, she said this was so cheap coz preston gave them a good price on surgeons staff etc, so they passed it onto the customer, i was debating having it done with wga just for the band but knowing my luck something could happen and i might need the aftercare, and no only that im only 24 and feel i need the support after, they do the fills at preston through the wls aftercare paccage which someone else told me about and its £700 for the year for your fills and aftercare so that might be an option for you, if you want to chat give me your e-mail and i'll post you my number
thanks
love

Hi thanx for the info. I`m in blackburn so it`d b alot easier going to Preston for my fills so I`ll look into that. If I`d have known it was only that price I`d have considered going there for the whole shabang!! Never mind, I haven`t told anyone about my op ( apart from hubby ) and knowing my luck i`d have bumped into someone I know at Preston!!!

bless ya!! i have not told many people i will after but not at the mo, it will make me more nervous!! I'll keep you up-dated on my progress
xxx
