Im itching to ring and see when my 3rd appoitment is.. someone tell me to be patient!

Liz - thanks for the info - gosh, I didn't realise that there were no many referals going through... and thought that the seminars may be every six months or so, not three per month!

Happy to wait as long as necessary - knowing that I'm on the system somewhere keeps me going. I've started swimming this week and cutting back on the stuff I shouldn't have, and am trying not to constantly think about eating. Will be going for a long walk on Saturday and Sunday to get me out of the house and away from the cupboards.

Thanks for the info, there's quite a bit online about the surgery and diet B&A, but nothing much about the process (eg waiting times, appointments) - but I guess that as each area is different it would be difficult to put something generic on the web. Even checked out the PCT/Trust's website but theres nothing on there re bariatric surgery.
Thanks goodness for this forum - its a godsend :D

Ta, Nova.

As people have mentioned the timescales, even within a specific hospital vary throughout the year due to the flux in referrals. Sunderland struggles more than most because they are the designated hospital for such a large area, covering Redcar and Cleveland PCT (which is mine), right up to each of the PCT's on the up way to Sunderland and the westerly ones such as Durham - If i remember rightly even patients from the Lake District have been referred to Sunderland too.
I would recommend that people attend the support group meetings if they can. As well as being a good source of support and information it helps you to make contact with people who are at different stages of the process and you'll get an idea of how long the current waiting times are along the way.

Hiya, firstly ill say helloo!!
I attended the seminar at Sunderland on March 17th, Had my appointment with nurse and dietician 5th July and have received an appointment for 21st Oct to see Mr. Small. My target weight loss for that appointment is 8lb. I have also decided to give up smoking!! Life change ahoy!! x:wave_cry::D:D

Am soooo excited foe this. It is all i seem to think about at the mo!
With attempteing to quit smoking, i have decided to take one step at a time and for the moment at least am just going to cut out the nasties!! I will take my weight loss from today and WILL hit my target for Oct!! Iam just hoping that surgery is not too far away as my biggest fear is putting the weight back on and having to start again!! xxx:)

And i need to get rid of these fat fingers to prevent all the typos hahaha xx;)

The bypass for sure! Howcome your thinking band? Just seems we about the same in stats etc. My main reason is that i have just been diagnosed with diabetes! have 2 children aged 11 and 3 and want to be fit and healthy for them xx Plus to go clothes shopping and buy what i want in a size 10-12 would be fantastic! :D:D

cos im to scared for the bypass :-/ eeeek makes me panic when i think of it, silly really, they may say when i go back, actually bypass is better....... hmmm not sure cos i did say to mr balupuri i was worried about bypass so he might think well is she only going for band cos of that x
