doing the five day pouch test!

My losses have never been mega with me having my fair share of weeks of no loss.... This month i think i've dropped 4lbs which i could do pre op tbh....

I feel like i can eat more and i think maybe having 5 days of strictness may just get me back on the road! Figured i'll start on Monday, that gives me tomorrow to stock up with soup and protein...

Hopefully it will kick my restriction back into place!

Julie that sounds like a great plan and if I were in your position, I would go for it...

Keep us posted and good luck precious xxx

The 5 day pouch test really helped me out and definitely broke me away from the carbs.

good luck sweets xx

Hi Julie
I think that is your decision but try not to compare to others on here. You have still done really well and I think people can lose too much sometimes and them that leads to other problems starting - like not feeling well etc.
There is no race to win so just be careful and dont do anything to too risky
Best wishes

They dont usually recommend doing the pouch test before 6 months, but you are almost at 6 months so I dont see it being a problem.

Good luck with it x x

That's a good idea. I might do that as well. I certainly have been eating more lately and could do with a kick up the bum.

good luck on it and keep us posted on your progress xxxxx

I think you need to remember that its not about loosing weight faster than you may have been able to on a diet preop. Its about loosing weight and keeping it off. Its actually much much better for you to loose weight slowly than it is to loose it fast. Comparing yourself to others is pointless as everyone is different.
Have you talked over what you are eating with the team? I think if you havent you should before doing the pouch test xx

I feel I can eat too much aswell sometimes but thats usually when its slider foods. No one knows better than you about your restriction Julie and if you feel the 5 day pouch test will help then why not :D Good luck with it and keep us up to date :D XX

Good luck hun xx

Good luck Julie, you really deserve the success. xxxxx

Julie i've been contemplating doing it too i haven't lost weight for a long time now but neither have i put any on so not sure. I seem to eat quite a bit too these days but i'm 15 months out so guess its to be expected. As others have said Julie do whats right for you hun, you have done so well so far. I learned a while ago its not about how long it takes or even necessarily about reaching goal, its about you being happy with what you achieve and feeling content with it. I'm at 10 stone 10lbs which is 10lbs from goal i set myself but i'm a size 10 and maybe i need to be happy with that and not beat myself up about the remaining 10lbs. Julie don't beat yourself up hun the weight will come off maybe just slower but you will get there hun that much i do now. Good luck whatever you decide big hugs xx

It's not all about the weight loss! I can eat more and am hoping by doing the pouch test restriction will get better and i won't eat as much as i can...

I am waiting to have an appointment with my dietician, can you believe i haven't seen her yet? And here i am almost six months out. I really feel like the 5 day pouch test will help reinstall some of the discipline as well...

Its disgraceful you havnt seen the dietician yet  How can they think its ok to give you a bypass and not to see a dietician......it baffles me!! XX

Jacqui, WM are pants at that! Most see her on the way out after surgery. I'm getting an appointment because i've asked for it xx

Julie it sounds like a good plan to me.
This last week or so I've been eating badly (well compared to the saint I was immediately post-op!) and I've noticed I can definitely eat more carbs and 'rubbish' than good healthy food.

Now I've nipped the rubbishy eating in the bud (for now, never say never! To quote Madeye Moody, "Constant Vigilance!" yes, I am a Harry Potter fan!).......

......anyway where was I before I began rambling on?

Oh yes.......healthy food.....protein..... :D
I've just had a Sunday lunch and only managed half of what I normally manage. i think because its because I've begun focusing back on the protein.

I ate:
1 small slice roast pork
1 small piece cauliflower
2 sprouts
2 small (baby sized) fork-fulls mashed potato
1/4 yorkshire pud.
Actually that's more like 1/3 of what I've been managing!

So you go for it girl! And shame on your provder, not seeing a dietician yet! For goodness sake; they spend thousands on surgery and then stint on after-care support! It's disgraceful!
Big hugs
Grace xxx
