Lactose intolerant?

Well as some of you know immediately following my bypass i discovered a side effect of my wls that was an intolerance to lactose. Well as i've struggled to go for a few days i thought i'd have a glass of real milk (almost a pint) and see if i'm still intolerant! What have a i got to lose? Be nice to see if my innards are a bit less sensitive xx

Hmmm nothing happening yet, not in my loo or on my thread lol xxx

How's the Russian Roulette? :p

Hopefully you've not been in the loo all night xx

Well i've had at least 1 1/2 pints of milk now and no effect. Not sure if i need a build up of the lactose before anything happens or what! Will have my bran flakes in half an hour or so and use cows milk again and see how it goes.

Well if i'm not lactose intolerant i'll have to think of something else to shift things xx

That sounds as if you're over it now then. Good luck! xx

hehe, glad you havent suufered xx

I was told to avoid lactose due to my stomach problems...I did and still had tummy issues...I now am back on cows milk and Im fine...still have the tummy problems occasionally lol

Well i've not 'been' yet and had cereals and a couple of cuppa's. Think i may have to get something to make me go now! Really don't fancy suppositories though :( x

Julie if you are struggling in the toilet department then taking something before you get impacted is a good idea, but bowel habits are not going to be the same as pre-op due to volumes. TMI alert, but I regularly go 3 or 4 days without going.

Movicol or similar should get things moving, but as a preventative try some fibresure which is a powder that you add to drinks to add bulk to your diet which should help with the frequency.

Thanks a lot Sam, the milk didn't get me going so i'm going to have to get something although i'm not uncomfortable at the minute. I've never been a go every day person but twice a week will be good :)

I'll pop to my chemist later xx

I swaer by glycerine suppositories!! They are crackin when impacted x

Tmi but i've been and it wasn't explosive! Still feel pretty bloated though :(

Thanks for all the advice xx
