Laxatives before Band Surgery?

Bluebutterflier

Bouncing Bander
Hi de hi Banders....

Just wondering if.....we need to take laxatives to clear ourselves out before our surgery?

I've seen a lot of the bipass lot doing this, and was wondering if its necessary for us also?

Before leaving the hospital on the day of my pre-op, the nurse did say in a jokey way 'Dont come bunged up'....after we had just had a conversation about constipation.

I havent had too many problems with going to the loo since I started my Pre-op milk diet, but have found some days I dont go. Not that there any pain or discomfort, I just feel that theres nothing to come out. Although I did go this morning.

So anyways, i thought about 'Senokot' - As its natural, and well if I started it today, by tomorrow it should be over, and then Tuesday I have my surgery?

See how you feel I hadn't been for two days before surgery as only having milk there's not a lot to come out lol Grosee! I'm sure your body will tell you what's what anyway x

I was never asked to " not come bunged up" LOL - You wont go as often on the milk diet because your not eating solids/fibre etc.

Please please do not follow what bypasser do. Totally different surgery prep op and certainly post op

I had my band done on the 2nd Feb and did not have to do anything except fast the night before. In hospital a few hours before the op they gave me a yukky liquid to drink which gets all the gassy stuff out of ur stomach but it doesnt make u need to go to the loo after it xo

I never had to take or wasn't given anything to make me go x
