Lower Back / Buttock Pain

Hi all,
Just looking to see if anyone else has experienced anything similar really. I'm 10 months post-op now and have lost over 10 stone - in general, life is good - however, over the past month or so, I've been experiencing a lot of pain in my bottom and the lower part of my back when sitting down. It's gotten to the stage whereby when sitting watching tv I have to sit on my side due to the discomfort.
At first, I put it down to there being less fat on my considerably smaller rump, but now I'm not so sure.
I'm thinking of going to the walk in centre or A&E tomorrow as it's becoming unbearable, but just wondered if anyone had had anything similar.
xXx

Been suffering from a pain in the area of my coccyx for a few years.

The only seat that seems to not hurt is the drivers seat in my car.

I've tried numerous office chairs for my home office and none have helped.

It gets that bad some days I cannot sit for more than 10 or 15 minutes.

Every time I've mentioned to the my Dr he says that it's just the pressure of my extra weight...

Don't know how you cope, bless ya.
Thing is, I never had the pain when I was heavier, and I barely have any excess weight to blame it on now.

True lol

Mine started on a long motorbike journey, but went not long after, over the years it got more and more constant.

Just a thought, could it be Haemorrhoids? The pain they cause is very similar.

Sorry to hear about your back pain, I have got multiple prolapses and degenerative disk disease in both bottom and top of back. The pain is horrible and some days I can not even get out of bed. I now have one shoulder blade a lot higher than the other due to pain when walking and working which I had to stop :( so I can totally sympathise with you. I would go to walk In centre tomorrow to see if they can give you any stronger pain killers, then make a visit to GP this week, if it lasts more than a few months ask for a MRI scan as this is the only way to diagnose back problems. Hope you feel better soon x

Thanks both. I'm gonna go the walk in centre first thing.
It's bloody awful, isn't it?

Could be the sciatic nerve, which points to a bulging/slipped disc. I suffer from sciatica deep in my bum cheek and ibruprofen hardly touches it.

Same here Iburofen or paracetamol was the Drs suggestion, made no difference at all.

I had exactly the same, and saw a back specialist. Its the shift in our skeleton and ligaments etc that settle into new positions. We have so much less padding on our rumps now!
It does get better the further out you get, mine peaked at about the same as you and is a lot better at 14 months.I still have to shift if I sit too long in one position. My hubby used to rub my bum for me!

Sounds like a good excuse for a bum rub to me lol x

Been to A&E this morning. Seems I have some unexplained inflammation in my back and pelvis. Have to apply ibuprofen cream 3 times a day and wait for an appointment for an MRI.

Oh good for you at least you are getting something sorted. I tto sufer the same pain it is excrutiating at times when you have sat for a while. I first started with that pain after i had been playing rounders bout 4 years ago i pulled something in my butt. Its the same pain and i have been doing a lot of exercise on my but and thighs so put it down to that but it is at the base pf the coxyx that its most painful i keep sitting on a cushion but that only helps fro a while at work i tend to stand alot cos sometimes at home i shout woith pain when i get up. I did get some coedine off docs ages ago but didn't really do anything. If i lie in bed on my side I can feel my pelvic bone and the base of my coxyx and they feel very tender, don't suppose could ever feel them before. Have messed with the idea of going to docs put have put it off thinking it was just my old injury but maybe not??? xx Thanks for the info will investigate more now xx

Poor you! I would definitely pursue it with your GP, I used to be reluctant to go, especially when I was heavier as they just blamed everything on my weight, but now I'm confident enough to challenge them and say "No, this isn't right/normal".
Don't suffer in silence - get yourself checked out xXx
