Hi Chopster, Do you ever get together with any other people who have had wls in Worcester area? It would be good to share experiences. I am off for my first band fill in two weeks. Mr S fitted mine too.

hey sarah xx im on the waiting list for derby, have been for some time now. is the wait def a yr now?

nd is the 1yr wait for everyone on the list or just people being added to it?

i think the waiting part is the worse bit lol!

Hi Nichola sorry I've only just read this post! I haven't gone on the waiting list yet but I was told at my 1st appointment that it would be a minimum of 12 months. They are trying to bring it down by taking on another consultant but that could be months away.
How long have you been waiting already? I had a friend that only waited 6 months but that was 2 years ago. Hope you get your date soon, which op are you having? X x

hey sarah xxxx

thanks for the info :)

hope everything is goin well for you x im having the bypass, seems scarier but i think theres less things tht cud go wrong from what ive read and also more likely to work properly.

how about you, have you decided yet?

i went on the list on 14th dec 2010, i called them up at end of april nd they said i was so far down the list i still wasnt even numbered! pretty guttin to say the least!

if they stick to the yr waiting list ive only got 4 more months to go! so excited i wanna get in nd out nd start loosing some weight!!

let me know how you get on with the process xx

Hi Nichola

I think I'm going for the bypass, you're right it is scarier but I think it's the right op for me! Hopefully your op won't be too much longer now then. I'm so looking forward to my op too, it will be a massive change.

I've only told a few of my friends so far but I'm not looking forward to telling work. There are some ppl there who will either tell me it's a waste of nhs resources or tell me that they knew someone who's aunties friends cousin had died after their bypass!!

Do you live far from derby? I'm in Lincoln so it's a bit of a trek over there but well worth it : )

hey sarah xx im from north notts so its quite a trek for me too :-( shame theres not a hopsital closer, not looking forward to tht ride home after the op lol!

pretty much everyone i know, knows about my op, its good bein able to openly talk about it, everyone at work is really behind me, not heard one negative thing about it! well not to my face.....

but ive neva been in hospital before so ive saved my funds up lol

might give the hopsital a ring tomoz, see if ne one will answer to start with :-( then see how im doin on this damn mammoth long list :-(

im looking forward to having more energy nd cofidence to socialise more, oooo nd fitting into nice clothes!

whats the thing your looking forward to most?

nic xxx

Hi Nic

Yes I'd give them another ring if I were you they may be able to give you an idea how much longer it will be x

My manager and all of my friends at work would be very supportive if I told them. There are 2 ppl though that are very opinionated and I'm not looking forward to them finding out! The few ppl I've told though are really supportive and as excited as me. My husband is really supportive too as long as I don't run off when I lose weight!! Lol!

I'm looking forward to all of the things you said. I'm looking forward to going out instead of avoiding social situations. being able to wear the clothes i want, I don't even know what my style is I just buy the least frumpiest thing that fits! I dont want my daughter to be ashamed of her fat mummy and i don't want her to be teased for it. I'm looking forward to having more energy and doing things with her and not just sitting on the sofa! I'd like to be able to walk past a group of lads without the fear that they are going to shout something embarrassing at me. I'd like my patients not to confuse me with the other overweight nurse on my ward because she is 20 years older than me lol xx the list is endless really.

I know what you mean about the ride home from hospital post op! It's a terrible road for us, we go past a pub called the spread eagle so that always makes me laugh!

Let me know if you get any info

Sarah xx
