Hi there, this is the weight loss surgery forum, you might have better luck on some of the other weight loss methods.

Welcome to minis best look in some of the more general weight loss forums on here as, bless you, your not going to be a surgery candidate at your weight and BMI
Good luck
xx

Hang on guys, why pass missE09 onto other forums - think about it - collectively we have tried every weight loss program, pill, diet, fad known to man - who is there, better than us, to give advise on what works and what doesn't? Let's face it, the only reason most of us are resorting to WLS is because of our addiction to food, and because of that other diets don't work long term - it doesn't mean that they don't work, and I think we could give some bloody good advise to people like MissE09!

minimins covers all aspects of weight loss, i really dont think a wls section is the place for some one with such a low bmi, she will be supported very well in the section thats correct for the support she needs.

sorry thats just my opinion.

I think I need to explain where I am coming from - before my current job I was a teacher - my expertise in my field taught others, those being taught do not teach. The principles apply here - we are the teachers when it comes to the pit falls of weight loss, we have learned all the lessons, it's just our addiction that prevents us from following them ourselves.

MissE09 obviously knew what forum this was, if she found us, she would have found other forums that look at other areas of weight loss. Therefore she came here for a reason. She asked us for advise and all we did is tell her to go somewhere else. How is that supportive? If she has weight to lose, she is part of the same family as all of us. Seven years ago, I would probably be in the same position as she was weight wise, if someone who was walking my road spoke to me about this 7 years ago, I wonder if I would be here now?

I do get where you are coming from Corey, and its admirable that you have reached out to try and help this new poster.

However *and this is only my personal opinion and apologies in advance as it may offend some* We are all here in the WLS forum as a last chance saloon as we have failed at all other attempts to lose weight. I think therefore that prob makes us the worst people to take dieting advice from.

i understand your point in priciple corey, and i understand your reasoning, but overall i still think she would get better support in a section more suited to her needs, people that weigh these kinds of weights and reakon there fat, is weights people on this section long to be, i really think it would cause upset to people thats not suited or not having wls.
i am not going to argue with you corey, but i shall agree to disagree with you about this matter.

I agree with ith sam and liz although we have tried every diet going between us all we are hardly great success stories, we can advise on what we have done and found work for a while, but at the end of the day this forum is for wls there are other boards on minis where Miss E will get better support and encouragement than on here. As has been said this is a last chance for many of us and we do have severe weight issues and will not be able to truely understand how somebody is a dress size we long to be considers themselves fat. It is in some ways a tad insensitive even taking the mick in some respects.

I agree, WLS is last chance saloon, but as we have been in every other pub, who better to give advise than us?

Because we couldn't maintain the loss(es)?

Anyone is welcome anywhere on these forums, I am certain, but if our friend is looking for appropriate weight loss advise & support, then I don't think WLS section is for that.

That doesn't prevent anyone from coming to WLS section, many do i.e. Porgeous etc. But for advice? No.

Only MHO.

yea im quite the same .. welcome to minimins Hun.. i have tried every kinda diet ... but you wont get any help from your Dr for your weight loss as your not that large .. so im unsure of what kinda food diets are out there these days as for the last 6 yrs i have been on pills and drugs to loose weight i gave up on all the calorie counting and fruit diets etc ..

pills are the only thing that worked for me in the short time but all ended up coming back .

i found swimming the best exercise ever as i lost stones doing it but when i stopped due to my move i put it back on .. but swimming is great with a healthy diet.

try the like of slim-fast drinks and meals im told there OK .. but like others have suggested try one of the many other forums here cause theres loads and im sure there will be loads of girls like your self who need to shed a sum excess weight.

don't do anything extreme tho Hun you could end up bigger than what u started as addiction to something can turn bad .. stay away from pills .. try and do it a healthy way ..

so good luck xxx

I agree with what has been said about how we (WLS people) obviously don't have advice that would be full of success. I have eventually failed at every diet under the sun. The truth is that dieting in my opinion eventually leads to failure because you always stop doing it (dieting is finite, there is always an end at some point). The only true course of action is a change in lifestyle and if a diet can get you there, you then have to do the work to change your life forever.

However, I have a few diets that I think well of and would recommend to others trying to shift some weight. I always found Weight Watchers to be balanced and sensible, I always lost with it. Another diet that I was happy with was Atkins, although they have modified it since I was on it to include more 'good' carbs which probably has improved the appeal. Both are well known, have many products & lots support nets. In the end, whatever you choose, think about how you can change your lifestyle in order to eventually stop dieting and start living.

Best of luck on your journey, may it be swifter and easier than it has been for me and most others in the wls last cahnce saloon.

Hi there

MMMMMMMMM im torn on this one , i get exactly what Cory is saying and yes anybody is welcome to these groups and we can give advice and support where appropriate, it would be interesting to know whether Miss e09 is wanting to consider WLS and whether she is that desperated to be at her chosen dress size that she feels that this is the best option for her and if she does think that then firstly she has problems that need addressing and also need to be made aware of the private and NHS criterea for weight loss surgery, maybe this is last shot for her maybe she has tried all methods of weight loss and cannot lose the weight and is frightned of putting more weight on.

But i feel that our advice would be limited and once she has the advice from us then yes a different site may be apprpriate after all we have all failed at other diets and are not in the best position to advice individuals on how to lose weight on diets !!!!

But on the other hand I was alittle shocked to see someone with such a low BMI posting on here I did at first find it a little frustrating and perhaps in some respects in sensitive , after all id give me right arm to be a size 16 never mind a 12 to 14, but im sure we could offer some advice

So dont be put off, tell us what you want to know hon and we will direct you all we can
