Hello all,
I just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully make some new friends that won't judge me! ("Just eat less to lose weight")
So I'm Christine, 29 and my Bypass is booked for the 7th of January, Eeeek!
I had a gastric band inserted in the Czech Republic 2008 and lost 5stone, but last year I got very unwell with the band, leading to this year vomitining blood and finally getting to see Mr Dresner a bariatric specialist at (South tees) James Cook hospital he removed the band in November and I'm having the bypass in January.
I would love to meet people who are having their op in January and those who have already had it done, any advice and friendship would be lovely xx

Hi hunni and welcomexxx Good luck with everything

Hi Christine, my bypass is on Friday! Very nervous but so ready for it! I've found this forum so helpful for information as I'm sure you will too x

Thank you for your warm welcomes ladies! How far are you all in your journeys? It's great to hear success stories to keep me motivated!
Do you know if there are others who are having surgeries in January or from the Teesside/Hartlepool area please? Xx

I'm 4 months post sleeve and am doing well. I've lost 4 stone since I started my LSD at the beginning of August.

Wow Kar, that is brilliant! You should be really proud of yourself for putting in the hard work because you are clearly getting the results. Where did you have your op? Are you from the uk or somewhere else? xx

Hello,
I'm guessing you are on your lliver shrinkage diet at the mo, how's it going?
I'm 14 weeks post op mini bypass, with a 4.5 stone loss in 16 weeks,
I originally asked for a band but my surgeon didn't advise it ,saying bypass has better results, sorry to hear about the problems you've had with the band, having a bypass is the right choice, good luck on the 7th.

Hi and welcome!

There are a few of us around at various stages of revision, look forward to hearing more from you x

Hi Christinemarie,
I'm from Hartlepool, had my bypass at Sunderland on 1st November and lost 2 stone so far since op, just short of 4 stone in total :)
There are a few of us on here from around the area, some having surgery at North tees, James Cook or sunderland. We've arranged a couple of get togethers which is nice to be able to discuss all this stuff :)
Good luck with your surgery, hope all goes well and you have a good recovery x

Hi and welcome to a fab and friendly site x xx no one judges here :) so i wish you well on your new journey, hope all goes well gl x x x

Yes I'm struggling with the pre op diet at the moment as it feels double hard after having the band removed two months ago! But I feel really lucky to be going into the new year with this new tool to help turn things around, the specialist was eager to get the op done as in 2012 I fractured my spine whilst pregnant with my daughter so I have undergone a lot of surgeries for my spine with a lot of metal work being inserted so the extra weight since having the band removed is not helping my recovery. But like I say on the positive side, the amount of determination this has all given me is so huge because being able to normal things with my little girl is a dream at the moment.
My pre op assessment was today so It's all starting to feel very real! Thank you again to all of the welcoming messages xx

Hi Christinemarie, I will be having my wls on 13th Jan. I am currently banded which I wish I had never had. However, I am really looking forward to a New Year and NEW ME!. I am also very nervous but excited at the thought of being a new me. I start my pre op diet tomorrow 1st Jan 2015. Good luck with your surgery and all the very best for the New Year x

Hey!!! I get my band on the 7th as well! Day 6 of the pre op diet!!! Work all day then a Hogmanay party! I am the designated driver! Good luck honey! Xx

Fingers crossed all went well for you today Xemzax lots of wishes that your recovery is speedy xx

Why are you nervous Donna66? Is it because of the bad experience of the band, what happened? Look at me prying haha, feel free to tell me to keep my nose out, I won't be upset!!!
I'm nervous in a way too, but I have a two year old and I have had a dodgey spine all of her life, she deserves a slimmer more able bodied mummy and that is what I'm going to give her, Yippeeee to January, it's going to be a long hard road but after going through all of the appointments, weighings, poking and prodding we have endured so far I'm sure we are all strong enough to do this xx

Hi Christinemarie. I guess part of it is the band experience. But after ready a lot of the threads on hear about the sleeve. I am very hopeful. I am nervous about the op and the recovery and hoping that I lose a lot more weight that I did the band, which costs me 2 stone down and 6k in money lol!.

From reading a lot of the threads on here, Im guessing the sleeve is a lot more successful than the band.
