PCOS after surgery...

This has probably been covered in a previous thread but so many results came up in the search and I'm too lazy to search them all!!!

So, my question is: After your WLS have any of your PCOS symptoms got better/disappeared???

I was diagnosed with it 8yrs ago and since then have maybe 2 periods a yr, if that, and am extremely hairy on face and arms etc plus not been on contraeception the whole time and never fallen pregnant. So am really hoping that most, if not all, of the symtons will go away!

Hi angel i would like to know this as well, as i have PCOS but i can tell u that i started getting my periods back after losing weight, and i have 3 lovely children first whilst on the waiting list for IVF.
i am was told i would never have them, and i have bad hair growth still and periods since going up in weight as when pregnant i lose it have been very poor.
i hope it goes completly that would be a xtra bonus for me. x

Hi

I was diagnosed with PCOS back in 1998 - just b4 i got married. Up until I started my pre-op in Nov 2010, I maybe had 1 or 2 periods a year - I now have them every month without fail.
In relation to the facial hair - mine hasnt improved yet - I have lost 7stone so starting to think its not going to improve.
I started IPL laser treatment - had my 1st session few weeks ago. I was lucky that I saw a deal on groupon for a course of treatment at less that 10% of the normal cost. Hoping it works lol

oh and i have 2 daughters - was on clomid for both of them - good luck xx

None of my symptoms have changed yet

Fingers crossed the laser treatment works. I really want it done but can't afford it :sigh:
Out of interest, how did you deal with the hair before??? I cannot use hair removing cream as it burns my skin (even the sensitive stuff) as does the wax so, as bad as it sounds, I've resorted to shaving  bad I know but I'd prefer to have to do that every day than have a beard and moustache!

What requirements do you have to fulfill before being put on Clomid?? I was under the impression if you were overweight they wouldnt put you on it!

None of my symptoms have changed yet

Fingers crossed there are some changes soon xx

hi, i was lucky enough to get my laser treatment for just £99 for course of 6 treatments on 3 areas - my upper lip and chin were the areas I wanted done I am getting my underarms done as the 3rd area which is a bonus - register on groupon.co.uk and whatever city is closest to u - u might be lucky enough to see a good deal.

I tended to pluck or epilate my chin and shave my upper lip, but my skin was so dry shaving. There is a cream that is available on prescription - think its called vaniqua. I tried it but my skin was really sensitive to it but might be worth a try - ask ur GP about it.

I had no issue getting clomid for either of my girls - i was under close supervision and my doctor did discuss me losing weight but gave it to me. The 1st time I was on it for almost a yr - the second time only a few months. Emotionally, like any kind of fertility treatment, it is a real rollercoaster but worth it if u get what u want from it.

No changes for me at all, tried the vaniqua cream and thats not worked either !!

Never heard of the cream! Will go ask the doc!!!
Thanks to both of you x

try epilating ur face instead of shaving..wil only make it worse. or maybe u could use jolen to bleach ur hair so its less obvious?

good luck...im a waxer myself but would love to have it lasered off!!!

I was prescribed vaniqua it slowes the growth but not much but now my pct have blacklisted it so now I am not allowed it and there is no substitute

I have blonde hair so the bleach would make now diff it just HORRIBLE. The kids I look after always comment on it (bless 'em!). I know shaving makes it worse but tried pretty much everything and it jus messes my skin end. Get burns on my face, spots etc. Shaving the only thing that hasnt!

Lasering would be perfect!

Angeleyz - u might find that the laser treatment isnt as effective for u because ur hair is so light. I works best with thick dark hairs. I am getting a type of laser treatment called IPL, and as far as I know the machine can be adjusted for blonder hairs - u may need to research this more.

magicbeans - i epilate my chin area but jeez - the upper lift area hurts like hell if i try to epilate, so I chicken out. lol

Havent tried that yet! Only just gone bk to work prop after bein on incap for yrs so need to sort out ££ etc then see how it goes!

You can sometimes get laser treatment free on the NHS ... I did.

I asked them and they said it not available on NHS :-(

My pct blacklisted vaniqua because of the costs, I was referred to the hospital for laser and was told the treatment would work for me but the pct turned me down
