PCOS and WLS

Hi. Does any one else here suffer from PCOS and is having or has had WLS? could you share your experience please. I have been very worried about the fact that even on a Low calorie diet i still seem unable to loose any weight and i am worried about reading that i do need to lose between 5%-10% of my body weight before surgery has anyone else had this problem?

The LSD is just that a livet reducing diet the weight lose is a bonus the liver needs to be smaller so the surgeon can mive it out the way and sugery can happen .I guess you are trying your best to lose something now and that counts as well , do talk to the team about this when you have your first assessment they are the experts in this and other than us on here(!) Are best placed to help you

I have pcos and they took this into account when they set my weight loss target. Thankfully they only set my target at 6lb which I managed quite easily in the time I had which was 9 months because it took forever to get an appointment!!
It is a real bummer and one of the reasons every diet failed and I couldn't lose weight, at one point I was on 1000 cals and exercising like a crazy lady and would still be lucky to lose half a pound!!!
Very pleased to say that post op it has come off nice and steadily with no issues :)

Thank you so much Su2ie! So nice to hear that I am not struggling alone with this PCOS! I too have been exercising like I'm mad I've been on a low cal diet and no carbs or sugar even fruit sugar! Still if I do lose anything it's about a single lb a week but most times I actually gained weight! Even my consultants who put me on
Oralist and metformin were baffled hence the refaral for WLS it is so frustrating outing so much work in and getting such little result and I suppose I am just afraid I may be taken to mean I am not committed to a change in lifestyle

I have PCOS and had surgery last week. Like you it didn't matter what I did the weight wouldn't shift. Luckily, they did not give me an amount of weight to lose on lsd but I did manage to lose about 6lb. Weight now coming off, lost a stone in total now. Won't weigh again until Saturday.

Good luck

Congratulations on your successful surgery and weight loss! Thank you so much for this I have been so worried that I will not be eligible because I can't shift the weight. Were you under a specialist consultant before the surgery?
