Yes I had gastric bypass March this year and have suffered with underactive thyroid for over 4 years. Im sure it was a factor that contributed to my case. Post op my meds have not changed as expected tho, they said they thought I would need less thyroxine but still lots to loose so we will see.
Hope that helps, anymore questions please ask
Hi sassyp81,
thanks for your mail, glad to hear that one can for I was thinking they may say it does not help, Have you seen my previous mail where I had indicated my other condition? Do you mind if I ask whether you had any other condition?
My neice has thyroidism and has been bypassed. She is only eight weeks post at the moment so it too early to tell if she needs to reduce her meds but she is losing between four and ten pounds a week so its definately been good for her.
I've had a Bypass. I was told that my underactive thyroid was not classed as a co-morbidity, but my blood pressure was. It may of course differ with each PCT, so you need to check with someone (GP?) who would know.
Sorry... x x
I don't really know the answer to this because different pct's take different views on co-morbidities. It would be beneficial to you to find out as much as you can. Personally I think it should be classed as a plus towards your surgery. good luck and I hope someone here can help you find outxx
