Morning all , I have my pre assesment at the Whittington tomorrow Tuesday.
I should also be getting my date for my op tomorrow as well.
Please any advice for my assesment & what actually
Happens?
I'm feeling really scared wondering now whether if it's the right thing for me to be doing! My brain is hurting lol
.
Thank you all .
Hugs xxx

Just the usual type of tests, they also do a blood gas test aswell, which can be a little painful, but just be brave, the nurse talks to you about which diet and then give you an appointment, i think my OH was in there for just over an hour. So nothing to worry about, then the fun begins xx

Thank you zns, I would imagine the assessments are similar at most hospital I'm grateful for any info whether it's at my hospital or not, zns thank you for the good luck too it means a lot ;) x
Cheekybum ouch! Ouch! I don't like hurt :) they can never find my veins easily..
Iv been told to expect to be there for 1 to 3 hrs so was wondering what test they do to take maybe up to 3 hrs...?
I think they have been rather unfair to make me start this liver shrinking diet over Xmas :D when there is Xmas day dinner & going out with friends for pre Xmas dinners & a drinkie or two ;)
I can keep away from sweets but its the Xmas roast I love.!
Oh well got to start somewhere haven't I & it's not going to be easy right ?
Hugs to all xx
Would still be interested to hear about your pe assessments xx

Hello love... it was straight forward really, blood tests, MRA test which is a swab only, heart check, I had the sleep apneoa too, and a water sample... just pretty much routine and a chat with the anesthetist...

Good luck and let us know how you get on xxx

Part of the one I went to was a presentation about the sorts of weight loss surgery and some statistics etc.

Also had an ecg, swab tests, blood test, weight and height, saw dietitian and consultant and given information about pre and post diets.

Mine was pretty straight forward too, MRSA swabs, blood pressure, bloods taken......I think I had an ECG done too, not sure that was at the pre-op though! Chat with the surgical specialist nurse about meds etc and that was it :D XX

Emm! Yes all very different arnt they. Well iv already been to a seminar where we spoke of different surgeries and I have already had a sleep apnoa test, I slept in over night for that.
Bev, Jacki Did you start your liver shrinking diets from the day of your pre assesment ?
The nurse is going to sort mine out tomorrow! Not sure if I
start it tomorrow ?
Thank you so much for your time..
Hugs xx

Hi Ya

I'm off for my pre-op assessment tomorrow and my surgery is next Monday. Hope all goes well with yours and you get a date soon. I'm on day 4 of the milk diet so I've already ruled out eating and drinking over the festive season. BUT there will be loads more christmases to come whoo hoo x

No I started mine 2 weeks before surgery, the letter said 3 but Id been told 2 and the dietician said 2 weeks would be enough! Everywhere is so different but Id be suprised if you started it before you even have an op date :D Good Luck XX

Good Luck on your pre op appointment tomorrow lovey, you are bound to feel nervous but really there is no need to worry.
All of the tests mentioned above will be carried out and you will be asked loads of questions about medication ect. I did not need the sleep test and the only thing that niggled me was the injection i had to have after. The milk diet usually starts on the run up to your surgery. Uhh you should get a date tomorrow then, how exciting for you.

Let us know how you get on love and honestly you will be fine. xxxx

Hello Angel... I live a distance from the hospital where I attend... so I was in for an overnight stay for my pre op... 8 weeks prior to surgery and had the sleep apneoa test at the same time, I didn't have an injection after that though...

It's true... all hospitals seem to have different processes.

The very best of luck and keep us posted precious xxx

Hi there again my friends, jacqui not sure of my date yet but mr sufi said to expect January & tomorrow the nurse is going to give me a date for surgery, she origanly said to me it's normally 4 weeks from assessment but due to Christmas not counting chickens ;)
Hi Bev, like yourself we live quite away from the hospital where I'm having surgery and this was also my reason for sleeping as an inpatient for my sleep test. Due to living some distance away this is why I
also i want to get the surgery right, so for it to be rather a bypass or sleeve as if there were ever any problems it's quite away for us to travel.
Sugga hello , can I ask what this injection is that you mention . Oh and yes although I'm very nervous it is very exciting too :) I will definatly let you know how it all goes ..
Hugs & thanks to all ..xxx

My OH had to start his pre op a month before his surgery, its usually between 2 and 6 weeks, so you will probably get your diet sheet tomorrow and will be told when to start your diet. Its really an exciting time, and when you get that letter in your hand it will feel so real then. Good luck sweetie xx

Good luck with everything Diana. You'll be fine tomorrow...the scaryily named 'artieral stab' might make you a bit woozy but it's over in a few seconds.

Ring me or text me to let me know how you get on xx
