pre op diet for diabetics

milk diet for me

before my op i was a type2 on insulin (2 types)metformin and pioglitazone but since the op i've taken no meds at all but my sugars are around the 10 mark (told by the diabetes team that i might need metformin when i start eating propely)

anyways back to your question theres people on here that were put on a low carb diet to shrink the liver but............the l&d put me on the milk diet .........just lucky that i like milk :D:D:D:D:D

Hi Chloe, I have been given the milk diet with instructions to stop insulin whilst on it but continue with piaglitazide up until the morning of my op. Hoping not to have to go back on either post op but will have to wait & see. x :):)

im on the diabetis diet at the moment ,mine is a oat satchet ,,1.5 weetabix or similar ,or slice of toast ,for brekky
lunch is 1 slice of bread or 2 crisp bread 2 eggs or 100g of lean meat
or 4 slices ham.chicken,or 150 fish ,unlimited green salad,or green veg except peas, butternut squash and toms are allowed
evening same as lunch but with 2 small pots or 2 tbls pasta or rice,
1/3 pint of milk a day
one low fat yog a day
one orange or half banana or 2 mandarins
unlimited sugar free drinks fizzy or still
its quite easy to follow was hungry for first couple of days ,and just gets boring after day 3or4 but its not to bad ,good luck x

I was given this on Monday with the instructions re insulin & medication so it is very current. I prefer then milk option to the low calorie but everyone is different ... good luck with your choice, sweet xxx :)
