Sugar free Jelly (optional)
Low calorie vegetable soup – one average bowl a day
Drinks
Water, tea, coffee, and low calorie drinks or squashes are allowed freely.
Sweeteners are allowed
1 small glass of fruit juice (orange, pineapple )

Or

low cal diet
Breakfast*
1 small glass of fruit juice
1 weetabix or small bowl of unsweetened cereal with skimmed
or semi-skimmed milk
Lunch*
1 slice of bread or 2 crispbreads
Small portion of lean meat, fish, cottage cheese or 1 egg, Salad
Dinner
Small portion of lean meat or fish, 1 small potato or 2 tablespoons of rice or pasta Vegetables
*Daily
½ pint semi skimmed milk for use in drinks and on cereal
1 low fat, low sugar yoghurt
2 portions of fruit – e.g. apple, orange, banana, pear

I'm doing the milk diet, sunderland only advise 10 days as its very restrictive.

The 4 soups, 4 yoghurts and 200mls milk is one of the options available on the St Peters & Ashford Hospitals/St Georges Hospital liver shrinkage diet sheet, along with
- 5 pints semi-skimmed/skimmed milk
- 2 pints milk and 4 yoghurts
- 1300 calories, low fat, low protein and low carbohydrate diet.
With all options you also have 1-2 stock cubes or similar a day, can have reasonable amounts of sugar free jelly and up to 3 sticks of sugar free gum a day.

I am planning on doing a combination of the soup/yoghurt/milk and milk only diets.

My diet starts in 12 days time!!

Think you must start yours about same time as me I start mine on 1st December

Hi Jinny,

Yes, I start my pre-op on the 1st and my op is on the 16th!

Just been stocking the fridge up with milk and shopping for yoghurt tomorrow.

Got a stockpile of soup so will be fine if we get snowed in!

Hi Cost,

Thanks for thinking of us. I started the pre-op diet once before and, once you're past the first few days, it's quite easy to manage!
