Does anyone know why I'm starting to feel total rubbish after almost two weeks on the milk diet..... Also do you have a catheter when you have a gastric bypass? Xx
Hey - from a physiological point of view your body will be running low on glycogen stores (sugar in the liver) and hence your liver will have shrunk. Your body will be beginning to turn fat into sugar that can be used for energy (esp in the brain) and all of that takes a lot of energy so I imagine that's why you're feeling a bit low. How long are you on the diet for? If you're feeling quite bad it may be worth asking your provider if you can exchange some of the milk calories for something like low cal chunky soup?
With the catheter, I asked the same thing with my bariatric nurse on Friday. She said that they'll give me one once I've been put asleep and then will take it out when the operation is finished so when I wake up I'll be encouraged to get up and walk around to go to the loo. I think it's unlikely you won't have one at all but you may not be aware you had one as they'll put it in and take it out while you're asleep!
