Sorry can't help I am waiting for a decision on my funding. I suppose it comes down to money as I think it is about £10,000 for a bypass so they can't fund everyone. Fingers crossed they will say yes on Friday for me.
I am around 41 BMI so I'm ok (as my doc is going through Camden). I don't have any other problems but there is A LOT of diabetes and weight-related problems in my family.
Sorry if it sounds like a weird question! I am just jotting down some things to ask when I go for my appointment, and am writing a list of why I want it done. My brain turns to mush when I'm put on the spot so if I have it written down then it'll be ok!!! I'm also going to write a list of what I have done to try and lose weight in the past.
There is only the meeting of the PCT criteria that I know of but I suppose a patient with health issues that are too dangerous to be aneathetised could be a problem.
Hi Meg
I think if you have any mental health issues they would turn you down , not depression . Drugs and drink or schizophrenia because they asked me about them . Take care .
Margaret xx
There has been younger peeps than you getting surgery so don't worry. If you meet the criteria and have tried all other avenues to lose weight then you should have no problems.Good luck.
I would say one thing - money. There isn't enough money to pay for everyone to have surgery even if they meet the NICE criteria. That's why some PCT's ask for BMI's over 60 only etc.
