thanks for posting this as i'm also looking for people in derby. i just moved to derby for my studies and don.t know what should i do about my appointment in london. i won't be able to attend any moreappointment in london. i'm frustrated as have had 2 appointments already with the specialist in hospital. do i have to stsrt from scrach again? :(

Hi im not 100% sure about this but all may not be lost you really need to have a local doctor who i would imagine would be able to get you transfered to a more local hospital. i actually live in Nottingham but having my surgery at derby as no where local do the surgery. try not to worry and get booked in to see your local gp asap and tell him or her your dilema im sure they will help you the best they can.:)

Hi all

I'm from burton on just had mine done at little aston as not available to go to Derby

You have just missed the last meeting at the Royal it was last weds. I didnt go as I wasnt driving as i was only 2 wks post op.
The meeting is at the education centre at the back. If you park in car park 4 it the entrance you see when you walk out the car park. Its locked and you have to ring the bell.
Meetings are monthly the last weds. They have speakers and guests and is run by the bariatric nurses Kay and other one which has just gone out my head.
They are very informative and you get to talk to the ones that have had there ops. Most are banded as its only fairly new with the bypass there as they only started doing them in Nov.
The tel for the nurses is 01332788291

Hope that helps

Ali

Forgot to say that I go there to the meetings as its the closest to me. Everyone is welcome even if you are undecided about the op.

xx

thanks so much for your post moonflower i will give the nurse a ring for times and dates thanks again maybe i will see you at the next meet if im not working

Suport groups in Nottingham

Hi there....I'm having my operation in Derby this Friday (30th July) I've also found that there's no support groups in my area (I live in Worksop, Notts) ...its a real shame because there's always questions that need answering. As it happens I have a friend who's also had the op so I can ask her stuff. I've been through all my appointments and done mega loads of research so if I can help anyone in any way I'd be more than willing.
