Setting your goals

Lizze - - - godsmacked you are a grandmother - I'd put you at the same age as me and I have a one year old .... You must either have some sh*t hot wrinkle cream or I'm a geriatric mother

As per my signiature my goal is to get to be a proficient windsurfer. I might even jump out of a plane one day..... but not until I'm confident I wouldn't break the parachute or need one that could bear big loads!

Reading all these goals made me think gawd i wanna do half of these things when im on the loosing side, Sorry tho really dont fancy climbing a mountain but who knows ;)

Well, my short term goal is to get to grips with this new eating regime and stop eating too much too quickly.
Then, being able to fasten the seat belt and pull the table all the way down on the plane next year when I go to Cancun for my 50th birthday!!!
Being able to walk into Cannock in my lunch hour without walking back like I am about to expire!
Going Northern Soul dancing again and not sitting down all night!
Finding new ways to socialise that dont involve eating or drinking.
Going on one of those big yellow bananas on holiday and it not sinking at my end, going paragliding and the thing being able to get off the ground.
Doing the race for life next year and feeling like I've made a difference.

But most of all - inspiring my daughter to lose wieght. I love her to bits and hope with all my heart that seeing me being able to do it will inspire her to go for it whilst she is still young.

I dont believe in having regrets, but if I did, that would be it - not having this op when I was in my 20's!! I thank God daily for allowing me to have this done and start living my life to the full.

Bonita, how are you hun - I'm Karen, the lady in the bed next to you who had the bladder prob.

xx

I am a biker, have been all my life and I just spent my Harley fund on the Op - but I will have my new FatBob within 24 months. within 12 months (arthritis permitted) and the main reason I had the surgery - I want to be doing Canine-X with my Akita.

And I will be.

Well, in the first instance getting to grip with this new eating regime, stop eating too much too quickly!

Then, to be able to fasten the seat belt and pull the table all the way down on the plane next year when I go to Cancun for my 50th birthday!

I would love to go on one of those big yellow bananas on holiday without sinking it and have a go at paragliding and not worry about it being able to get off the ground!

To run the race for life next year and feel like I've made a difference.

But most of all, to be an inspiration to my beautiful daughter. If I can do this so can she. I love her so much and want her to experience the joy of losing weight.

I dont believe in having regrets but if I did, this would be the one - not doing this when I was in my 20's.

I thank God daily for allowing me to have this done - what a blessing.

Bonita - how are you doing hun? I'm Karen, I was in the same ward as you - the one with the flippin bowel complication. Hows things?
xx:)

Thanks Yoyo! But I think as the padding falls away the wrinkles will be revealed! Plus I am only 39 - grandmotherhood came a little early!

Windsurfing would be good but skydiving??? Eek!

Karen you made me laugh about that Banana boat. Maybe we should go on one together next year, they have them at Chasewater I believe...Ha Ha.

I haven't really thought about this actually, I guess I would like to participate in something such as race for life etc I know I can do that now I just haven't got the confidence to do it. But you've all got me thinking :D.

xx

i have 2, not major goals in most peoples eyes, but for me they are.
1- go cycling with daughter
2- go horse riding with her

I havent done either, im too heavy to horse ride and i wouldnt even dream of getting on a cycle at this size lol. I would be in A&E trying to get it prised out my butt lol:eek:

I havent set any goals yet, I'm still in the process of working out what meal I can have, when the weight loss gets to a point where I can tell then I'll probably start thinking about things I wasnt able to do before, I think it's fantastic that you can climb a mountain cause I'm just getting better at climbing the stairs lol

I set my goal at the kids sports day at the end of term. My goal is to run in the mum's race, I have 3 children 17,11 and 9. My daughter goes into year 5 in September and i have NEVER joined in in the mum's race they do on Sports Day as i have always been too embarassed of myself, so next year watch out them mum's who wear there nice lycra cycling shorts and flash trainers cause there's gonna be a new mum joining you and i am going to make every effort to beat the lot of you hands down. Thats my goal for next year and i am going to do it... Oh and also RUN next years race for life in memory of my mum because she would be so proud of me. X

My son gets married in two years time to coincide with my 50th birthday so want to look as best i can for then. I also want to get fit always been too embarrased to go to the gym or swimming. Short term goal is as a family we are going to tenerife for xmas so i want to have lost a couple of stone by then. Karlos congratulations on your amazing weight loss what an inspiration to a pre op like me xx

Its lovely reading about all these goals. I particularly like Williams - it sounds fantastic. Mine isn't as glam. The family and I have always loved the Lake District and, so far, I have never been able to reach the top of Stickle Tarn. I usually take abook and they leave me about a third of the way up. Next year I want to climb to the top AND swim in the freezing tarn. Also, like mummyof2, this grandmother of 2 would like to run in the Race for Life. Zxx

Thank you soooo much! I've got such a mixture of emotions at the mo. Excited, scared, happy, woo hoo!

Has anyone else set a personal goal in life apart from loosing weight?

I set one this week, told all at work and now the whole bloody office is coming with me to do it.

I thought originally it was something i would backout on as i usually did as a "fattie" cant be arsed lazy guy but thats now past.

I cant wait to climb mount TRIGLAV its here Mount Triglav... | Photo

I am scared, thrilled, excited and tbh full of life. I have changed so much over the past 2 months i really dont know why i waited so many yrs to do it.

So has anyone else set a goal? Or am i now just a crazy guy catching up on life..LOL
Thats fantastic, good on ya. This is what it's all about. hopefully one day i'll be following your example x

Wow, so many... Great thread.

I want to be able to run, I struggle walking at the moment. To do the race for life would be great as I stood by and watched my sister do it a couple of years ago and felt completely useless.. Going on holiday without worrying about asking the cabin crew, as quietly as possible for an extention for my seatbelt!!.. Choosing a bar/restaraunt because it looks nice and not base my decision on the type of chairs they have, can I fit my bum in them? will it collapse on me?... maybe even having a baby if I have enough time...

Just living a full life, not half a life x
