Contact the Doctors its been 4 weeks since referal was re-made but not heard anything or is it too soon???

Hi there

After my initial referral was made I didnt hear for about 8 weeks and that was directly from the Hospital who will be doing the op (If I get it) , you could double check with gp and make sure referral was sent off though, if that would put your mind at rest.

All the best - MeJulie

It's been that long since I was referred too and I have't heard anything, I don't get the impression it's a quick process!
Good luck x

you could always contact them and ask how long it usually is and while your on the phone could they look and see ?? :p
Least then you will have an answer to the wait time or to your referral progress

Good luck :D

After being referred by my doctor i gave them a call 4 weeks later to see if they had recieved my referral and they gave me my 1st consultation appointment over the phone and then sent me a letter to clarify it. After i had my consultation i left it another 4 weeks to see what happens now and was given my pre op assessment appointment and my operation date over the phone, again another letter sent to clarify this, so it might just be worth giving them a call to see if they have recieved your referral from the doctor :) good luck hope you dont have to wait too long x

My hospital team are great but admin isn't one of their strong points:(

After my GP referred me (in February) I got a letter from them about 4 weeks later containing a comprehensive questionnaire that I had to complete for them to decide whether I should see them at all.

I had 14 days to complete the questionnaire (or they would consider that I no longer wanted a referral  ) so I completed and returned it in less than 7 days (ie beginning of March).

Then I had to wait for another month before they sent me the date for my initial appointment at the clinic on May 1st (which seemed years away at the time).

Every clinic and hospital is different of course but they all are consistent I think in being overstretched and quite slow. So it could be just that you haven't made it to the top of the pile yet but it could be that you have slipped down the back of a desk somewhere.

Definitely worth a quick call to check if you are worried though. (You could always check to see if your GP has heard anything as well)

Hi i would find out the number for the hospital and ring and see if:

a) they have received your referral
b) when are you likely to be given an appt
c) for a brief run down on the whole process/time wise from receiving the referral to finally getting to the surgery stage...

If they haven't received your referral (and it sounds like your doctor sent it once before by your post) i'd ask for a copy of it and take it to the flipping hospital myself and hand it to a member of staff personally. That way you know it's there!

Good luck xx

Def give ur doc a call and see when they sent off the referral and also if it was done more than 2/3 weeks ago then there is no harm in calling the hospital to make sure they did receive the referral, there have been a few postal strikes recently so post could be delayed so def better to check up xx

Thanks all just phoned and spoke with doctors secretary. She says its early doors yet the PCT meeting board only meet once a month. If I havent heard anything within the next 3 weeks phone back and then she will look into it.

Fingers n toes crossed (but not literally cant do it lol)

At least you now know and havent been left in limbo wondering. Did you find out when the meeting was ? you could then ring the day after to see what has happened. :)
